Database Administrator Informix - DBA

For the Office for the Harmonisation of the Internal Market (OHIM), we are looking for a Database Administrator Informix/SQL Server.

NATURE OF THE TASKS:

- Administration of Informix (v10 and v11) and Microsoft SQL Server (2005 and 2008)
- Managing database backups (using Netback and Onbar) or restoration.
- Offering development advice.
- Performance monitoring and tuning
- Planning changes and any other activities relating to the administration of databases.
- Configuration and installation of software
- Assistance to the other application teams.
- Providing on-call support on a week-on, week-off basis. Also ability to work weekends and out-of-hours.
- Installation, testing and implementation of database changes.
- Fault fixing.
- Managing Enterprise Replication.

REQUIREMENTS:

- Detailed UNIX Shell Scripting background
- Development background preferred but not essential.
- Very good knowledge of MS Windows and Sun Solaris environments.
- Good knowledge of office-based software (Microsoft Office, Schedule+, Mail, etc.).
- Technical training, evidenced by an official certificate.
- Four years of experience in a similar position and context
- Fluent spoken English and Spanish
