Database Administrator ( Exadata, Oracle )

The Database Administrator will join the Global Infrastructure team and will be responsible for the implementation, upkeep, monitoring, and tuning of our database platforms. We operate globally in multiple data centres and manage some of the largest databases in the world.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

- Implementation and administration of data warehousing solutions on Oracle Exadata
- 24x7 support for databases to ensure the highest standards of availability, reliability, and performance
- Design, development and implement security solutions to protect sensitive data
- Work collaboratively or independently to resolve complex Oracle issues and ensure project milestones and SLA targets are met
- Develops/Documents procedures and scripts to automate repetitive or complex tasks
- Design, develop, and maintain documentation for database environments, standards, and processes
- Use judgment, creativity and expert technical knowledge to obtain and recommend database solutions
- Meticulous attention to detail with an appreciation for the relationship between database/system reliability and company success
- On-call responsibilities on a rotating basis
- Coordinates and performs Oracle database installation, patching, and upgrades
- Mentors junior team members
- Supports maintenance outages throughout the year
- Monitors, reports, and tunes for performance for multiple environments including development, test, and production environments

KNOWLEDGE & QUALIFICATIONS

ESSENTIAL

- Bachelor's degree, preferably with a technical major such as computer engineering, information technology or computer science
- Knowledge of ITIL Service Management Framework
- Experience with VLDB
- Experience in the application of disaster recovery principles, practices and techniques, especially Oracle RAC and DataGuard
- Experience with Oracle ASM
- Experience implementing and/or configuring Oracle grid/cloud control
- Strong Shell script programming skills are required (PERL is a plus)
- Experience with Backup and Recovery using Oracle RMAN and supporting software suites
- Oracle database tuning and performance skills - usage of statspack, AWR, ADDM, ASH and UNIX native commands

DESIRABLE

- Experience using HP Data Protector
- Experience implementing/configuring Oracle RAC environments on ASM
- Experience with Oracle Data Vault, Data Encryption and other Oracle Security related features
- Experience with Oracle Advanced Security option
- Experience working with data that is protected by regulatory standards, particularly HIPPA
- Experience with replication tools and techniques such as Oracle Streams and GoldenGate
- Experience with SQL Server database administration
- Experience with Oracle Advanced Compression option
- Experience using OID/LDAP authentication, preferable with Active Directory
- Experience with partitioning, materialized views, and Oracle analytic functions
- Experience implementing/configuring Oracle RAC environments on ASM
- Knowledge of Business Intelligence and Data Warehousing design principles and industry best practices
- Good working knowledge of job scheduling and monitoring tools

WORK EXPERIENCE

ESSENTIAL

- 8+ years of experience in Information Technology
- 5+ years of DBA experience working with multi-Terabyte, 24X7 uptime Oracle database systems on Linux/UNIX
- 3+ years Oracle RAC 10g (or higher) DBA experience
- 2+ years of experience with Red Hat or Unbreakable Oracle Linux OS

DESIRABLE

- OCP Certification at 10g or above
- 1+ year experience implementing, configuring, and/or administering Oracle Exadata
