MUST HAVE SKILLS: Minimum 8 years experience Oracle

NICE TO HAVE SKILLS: MySQL experience a plus; Oracle Golden Gate, Streams and/or Data Guard experience a plus

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Work with storage and system teams; provision software and build; Capacity planning, sizing and designing; Providing DBA support for development and QA databases; Providing Tier-3 support and subject matter expertise for production databases

JOB DESCRIPTION: Database Engineer is responsible for architecture, design and implementation for complex Oracle and MySQL based database solutions employing Oracle RAC 10g, 11g and MySQL 5.5.

RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

- Providing technical expertise to design most efficient and cost effective solutions for Oracle and MySQL based database systems
- Capacity planning, sizing and designing
- Providing DBA support for development and QA databases
- Providing Tier-3 support and subject matter expertise for production databases
- Defining backup/recovery strategies and database standards
- Defining consolidation deployment and migration methodologies and cost-effective solutions
- Automating repetitive tasks
- Advanced performance tuning
- Advanced troubleshooting and problem determination

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

- Associates degree in computer programming or relevant field required
- Minimum 8 years of relevant experience required
- In-depth knowledge and expertise with Oracle DBMS, Oracle RAC, and MySQL DBMS
- Experience with data replication using Oracle Golden Gate, Streams and Data Guard
- Experience with master-slave setup for MySQL databases
- Excellent analytical and problem solving skills
- Excellent troubleshooting and problem determination skills
- Advance performance and SQL tuning skills
- Knowledge of UNIX/Linux OS and storage subsystems
- Excellent Shell Scripting skills
- Strong verbal and written communication skills and ability to articulate concepts
