Database Administrator

SynergisIT, recognized by Staffing Industry Report as one of the fastest growing private IT staffing companies in the US, is seeking a Database Administrator for a contract assignment for one of our clients in Atlanta, GA.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Actively monitor and document the Database platform (MySQL datastore and underlying hardware) for data integrity, data security, user permissions, and performance
- Review/Audit web applications for proper Database interaction; including, but not limited to, optimizing queries, normalizing/denormalizing data (as needed), and maintaining indexes
- Audit daily & incremental backups and test recovery procedures
- Assist with PHP programming as required
- Promptly answer support related email, phone calls and other electronic communications (rotating weekend on-call)
- Other duties as may be assigned from time to time.

REQUIREMENT:

- Possess superior skills in database design, development, and implementation
- 2+ years' experience working with MySQL databases
- Experience writing PHP that interacts with MySQL
- Experience with MySQL on Linux preferred
- Self-motivated, able to juggle multiple projects at once
- Candidate must be a team player and willing to teach and to learn
- Able to work independently, demonstrate initiative, take direction and collaborate well with others

EDUCATION:

- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field
