Database Administrator

 

GoAhead Solutions has an immediate need for a Database Administrator in San Francisco, CA. This would be a six month contract to start out.

Summary:

As an essential member of the Data Systems team, the Database Administrator will install, upgrade, administer, maintain, and customize Microsoft SQL Server, Oracle and other databases for both analysis and transactional environments. The Database Administrator must be familiar with all aspects of database servers in a Microsoft-based environment. This person will be work closely with various other information systems personal to support a variety of applications, including the corporate wide data warehouse environment, internally developed applications and purchased software applications.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

-Build configure and maintain Oracle 10G, 11G, and 11GR2 servers.
-Build configure and maintain Microsoft SQL Server 2000, 2005, 2008, and 2008R2 servers.
-Act as mentor/trainer for other DBAs (specifically for Oracle).
-Assist in the design and implementation of internal database applications.
-Assist in the design and implementation of database, backup and security standards.
-Monitor and optimize query and database performance.
-Work closely with the data warehouse team to design and optimize ETL (Extraction Transformation and Load) processes.
-Assist in the implementation and management of metadata systems.
-OLAP and OLTP data modeling and schema design.
-General troubleshooting.
-Work closely with various business users to assist in implementing database applications
-Participate in weekly on-call rotation to support all Bank databases.

Experience/Skills Required:

-4+ Years in Oracle administration.
-2+ Years in Microsoft SQL Server administration.
-Knowledge and experience using RMAN and Oracle Data Guard for HA/DR purposes.
-Knowledge of indexing, triggers, stored procedures, and functions.
-Knowledge of data warehousing practices including dimensional modeling and ETL processes. Specifically utilizing DTS and SSIS as ETL tools.
-Strong PL-SQL experience.
-Good Transact-SQL experience.
-Good organization and communications skills.
-Strong analytical thinking and excellent troubleshooting.
-Ability to manage multiple, concurrent projects.
-Experience with third party ETL Tools (SSIS, Informatica, Sagent) is a strong plus.
-Knowledge of financial services industry a plus.
-Experience with SQL Mirroring, Replication, Clustering, and Log Shipping a strong plus
-Experience with SAN and NAS technologies is a plus
-Experience with OLAP Reporting Tools (Business Objects, Cognos, SSAS, SSRS) is a plus.
-Must possess excellent written and oral communications skills and the ability to clearly define projects, objectives, goals, schedules and assignments.
-Must possess the ability to work effectively with business personnel at all levels as well as with outside vendors and contractors.
-Proficiency with varied types of computer hardware and software.
-Proficiency with varied computer and network operating systems.
-Knowledge of ERWin or other CASE modeling tool is a plus.
-Must possess a general knowledge of all bank operations.
-Must exercise a reasonable amount of independent judgment under a minimum of supervision.
-Requires strong interpersonal and organizational skills, including the ability to meet deadlines.

Education Requirements:

-Requires a Bachelors degree with emphasis in a computer related field or the equivalent skill, knowledge and mental development.
