Data Scientist

Main Tasks
Within the Corporate Strategy & Market Insights department, you will be part of the team in charge of predictive modelling (data mining), big data analytics and advanced customer analyses.
In this team your focus will be on the application of data science to increase operational efficiency.
You will answer business requests and give advice to internal customers based on advanced data analytics.
You will translate those business requests into data requirements and extract, by using Python/R/Spark/SQL, the needed structured and unstructured data from the data warehouse and data lake.
You will use existing data marts or structure all relevant data in data marts specifically designed as input for your ad hoc analyses and statistical models.
Your analyses can be descriptive, predictive or prescriptive.
You will transform the data into valuable insights to come up with recommendations to influence strategic decisions or tactical choices. You will present your conclusions and discuss them with multi functional project teams.

Skills
Passionate about data science
Strong knowledge of statistical and machine learning methods
Experience with data science toolkit: Python and/or R
Experience with big data technologies and in particular Spark is a big plus
Knowledge of SQL and relational databases
Team player with strong communication skills
Entrepreneurial, self-driven, result-oriented, dynamic, innovative and fast learner

Languages Dutch and/or French + English

Education
Experience
Master's degree or PhD in a quantitative field (Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, etc.)
Relevant working experience in a business setting

Contract until end of 2017, with possible extension afterwards
