Job Description Data Protection Manager - 6 Month FTC - LON003ZU GB-England-London Data Protection- Six month fixed term contract

Background

Within the professional services environment, the application of risk management procedures is fundamental to the successful delivery of our client services and promotion of our brand. Risk management encompasses the processes that we have in place to ensure that we support service quality, contain the threat of litigation, limit damage to our reputation and achieve full fee recovery. At Ernst & Young ("EY"), the Quality & Risk Management ("Q&RM") group is responsible for the promotion and support of risk management within the business. Q&RM's aim is to ensure that the UK&I firm complies with the rules and regulations imposed either by external regulators or by Ernst & Young Global in relation to the conduct of our business. Q&RM is structured with a central team for UK&I (including functions such as independence, conflicts of interest, legal, risk, data protection and insurance) and a network of Q&RM specialists working within service lines, located throughout the UK and Ireland. The Central Risk team is responsible for supporting the UK&I firm in the execution of and compliance with Global, Area and local risk management policies and procedures. The team assists with the development, maintenance, communication and training of key Q&RM policies, providing consultations on more complex matters and monitoring the application of these policies. The team works closely with the other central Q&RM teams and the network of Q and „ Assist the Area Q

„ Liaising with Legal Counsel to ensure contracts with clients and third parties protect the firm's commercial and legal position in relation to data privacy requirements, including drafting DP clauses and attending client calls and meetings;

„ Managing periodic audits of data protection compliance within the firm and from clients and identifying actions necessary for remediation;

„ Liaising with IT to ensure that security requirements are satisfied within the EY network and performing system risk assessments as necessary;

„ Ensuring that requests from data subjects are dealt with promptly and in compliance with current privacy law;

„ Providing appropriate advice and interpretation of the provisions of the Act as they impact the firm's activities in general and/or specific functions across all service lines and business units;

„ Implementation of the EY Global Privacy Framework within the UK firm;

„ Taking any other steps, as may be considered appropriate, to ensure the firm's compliance with data protection legislation;

„ Project management of ad hoc data protection initiatives;

„ Responding to queries from the business on data protection;

„ Incident Management eg loss of data.

„ Maintaining the general data protection web based training programme within the firm and delivering other ad hoc awareness and in-depth training as necessary; and

„ Ensuring that the firm's notifications to the Information Commissioner are maintained and up to date and accurate.

„ Providing support, guidance and assistance to those firms with little or no data privacy legislation; and

„ Implementing the Area Plan to achieve consistent and effective compliance with the Global Data Privacy Framework.

Qualifications

„ ISEB Certificate in Data Protection required; and

„ Degree level education.

Experience

„Experienced Data Protection Officer and multiple year experience of its application in a sophisticated business environment;
