Contract periode van 12 maanden met de mogelijkheid tot verlenging. Werklocatie Maastricht.

Start 1/1/16, 40 uur per week.

Max uur tarief is onderhandelbaar.

The contractor will be required to develop the DPS software modules and documentation changes (from specification to design, coding and testing) in collaboration with the MUAC/ENG/ICS/DAS team members.

The domains that the Data Preparation Software Engineer will cover are multiple but focus entirely on the extension of the data in-house maintained DPS application; in particular tasks are expected to include the following activities:

* Develop software modules for the DPS addressing the following specific areas:
o Version Control extension: to allow the generation of different variants of the data output (ac-cording to predefined interface specifications) from the internal data sets and to maintain as-surance and automatic cross-checks that the particular configurations are compatible and consistent with the data generator for each subsystem requiring data.
o Maintenance of the Complex Contour subsystem.
o Infrastructure and data validation and verification improvements: an external data server iso-lating externally received data which is cross-checked, normalised, consolidated and stored in a database in its own schema. The new external data can then be incorporated into the DPS, and with management facilities, to analyse the impact of changes to the data to trigger all actions needed for the transition of the data into a correct and consistent state (for each subsystem served) for Operational validation.
o Baseline Process manager facilities and DPS delta report generation in order to automate the data generation activities pre-OPS validation and test scope definitions - reducing the continuous workload per baseline release.
o Improvements to the DPS administration/installation functionality including better monitoring and logging at all stages of the DPS processing activities.
* The above includes designing, developing, maintaining and providing support on the deployment and correct usage of the new and modified database applications components.
* Perform modifications to the given source code, documentation and test suite.
* Review requests for changes, clarify the understanding of the intention, perform prototyping where necessary, and create unambiguous software specifications.
* Analyse modifications required to the source code, documentation and test suite, and define test scope, to implement problem fixes and changes.
* Perform and document tests in line with test scope defined before.
* Arrange review of own source code, documentation and test results by peers.
* Review source code, documentation, test suite changes and test results performed by peers.
* Perform investigation of problems and sketch solutions.
* Debrief on the status of work and potential technical and schedule problems.
* Execute tasks in accordance with governing quality and safety management procedures.

2.2 DURATION, EFFORT AND WAY OF WORKING

The Engineer must be available on short term for a time period of 1 year, possibly - and likely - extended to 2 years.

2.3 REQUIRED SKILLS (If you don't have a 100% match, that is a deal breaker)
* Masters degree in Computer Science, or equivalent professional ICT experience (Masters degree in a scientific field with experience).
* Minimum of 10 years relevant experience IT technology: thorough practical experience in the follow-ing technical domains:
o Java (netbeans)
o C++
o XML + XML Schema
o Oracle and PL/SQL
o Unix and KSH Scripting
o Unix tools (Perl Scripting)
o UML Modeling language
* Experience in ATC and Airspace modelling, especially geometrical algorithms, and elements of nu-merical analysis (algorithm stability)
* Ability to draft clear and concise technical papers in English.

* The languages of the Agency are English and French. For this particular post candidates must have a good knowledge of English. Knowledge of Dutch/German would be an advantage.

2.4 SPECIAL PROVISIONS AND SECURITY:
Seeing the nature of the activities performed by the EUROCONTROL Maastricht UAC, the personnel working at the premises need to have a security clearance.
This implies that the Contractor will need to provide a "Bewijs van goed gedrag" (B) of "Verklaring omtrent het gedrag" (NL) or equivalent which normally is provided by the municipal police of the place of residence.
