Job Description

As a Data Platform Engineer, you will be designing and developing our next-generation Data Analytics Platform. The Data Analytics Platform aims to be a world leading big data environment for financial analytics and research. The platform will allow ING to scale to new data and user volumes and will encourage our teams to continually innovate in the latest open source technologies and techniques.

Your passion is to work with the latest and greatest technologies that make working with large amounts of data easy, you're pro-active in keeping yourself up to date and trying everything out. You also enjoy laying the architectural foundations for the things you're working on. You combine both thinking of the future and a hands-on, right now attitude. You will work in a team with highly skilled people and enjoy a creative atmosphere where trying things out is encouraged.

What you will be doing

* Work as an engineer on the Data Analytics Platform Squad, within the Wholesale Banking Advanced Analytics team
* Design and develop the components our self-service analytics cluster, using a wide array of technologies such as Kubernetes, Ceph and Spark
* Contributing extensively to open source projects
* Work within an agile development team

Do you recognize yourself in this profile:

* Knowledge of container technologies, eg Kubernetes, Docker
* Knowledge of distributed processing frameworks and how they work "under the HOOD" eg Spark, Kafka, Flink
* Interest in bleeding-edge open source technologies, eg Presto, Druid, Superset, RexRay, Prometheus
* Programming in a statically typed language, eg Scala
* Programming in Scripting languages, eg Python
* Deployment and provisioning automation tools eg Docker, Kubernetes, Ansible, Openshift, CI/CD
* Bash Scripting and Linux systems administration
* Security, authentication and authorisation (LDAP/Kerberos/PAM)
* Affinity with Advanced Analytics, Data Science
* Other programming languages: Scripting (Ruby, Groovy,) or statically typed languages (Java, C++, Go)
* Experience in setting up both SQL as well as noSQL databases
