Data Ops Engineer in a Data Lake Content Squad

DATA OPS ENGINEER

I am urgently looking for a skilled Ops Engineer who could join my clients project in Amsterdam. This is a long term contract, paying really competitively.

YOUR JOB
As an Ops Engineer you will be part of a team that works according to the Scrum methodologies. The team is responsible for their own source material, from the extraction of the data in a data lake to delivering Data Marts for Cognos Reporting.

Maintaining the applications running in the data lake is the operations part of your job. You and your fellow engineers are not only responsible for development, but also for maintaining and monitoring your CI's, this includes incident management and bug fixing. You will also be responsible for keeping the operational controls up to date which is a key part of the risk appetite within the bank.

The focus is on high quality, business critical software that is delivered in a timely fashion using an iterative process with regular demos to our stakeholders to ensure that expectations are met.

The team is transitioning from an AIX/Oracle to a Linux/Netezza stack.

SKILLS REQUIRED

- Bachelor in Computer Science or comparable education
- 4+ years of experience as an ops engineering
- Extensive experience with the Agile way of working
- Excellent knowledge of and experience with the Linux operating system
- Knowledge of and experience with TWS-d
- Knowledge of and experience with Oracle and Netezza as a DBA
- Knowledge of and experience with AIX
- Knowledge of and experience with SQL, GIT, Ansible
- Knowledge of and experience with Cognos and DataStage design and development is preferred
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English
