Projektbeschreibung

The Senior Data Modeler participates in a team environment for the delivery and maintenance of application system databases under the direction or coaching of a manager or Lead Data Modeler. This position provides technical, interpersonal and administrative skills in performing day-to-day work.

Expected deliverables include but are not limited to Conceptual Data Models, Logical Data Models, Physical Data Models, Data Flow Diagrams and other Data Management artifacts.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS AND TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES

- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Business Administration, or a related field
- Appropriate additional experience beyond the minimum required experience may be substituted for education
- Total of 6 years' relevant experience in a multi-platform environment, including but not limited to application system administration/coordination, application development or database development
- In-depth knowledge of data modelling concepts, including OLTP/3NF, Datawarehouse/Data Mart Design/Dimensional Modeling, and/or Data Vault
- In-depth knowledge of data modelling/management tools including, Allfusion ERwin Data Modeler, Allfusion ModelManager, and/or Toad
- Experience database development skills in addition to data modelling
- Proficient with SQL and Scripting
- Experience with various database platforms (ie Oracle, MS SQL Server, Sybase)
- Experience with XML (XML schema design)
- Experience in data management principles such as Metadata Management, Data Governance and Data Quality
- Must be able to develop positive relationships among clients, coworkers and management
- Uses rigorous logic and methods to solve difficult problems with effective solutions, looks beyond the obvious, can see hidden problems, steps up to conflicts
- Must be able to have clear and direct communications with others
- Ability to manage meetings that foster open communication among participants, adjusting tone, pace, style and message based on the needs of the audience
- Ability to plan and manage his/her own work and work effectively with other team members
- Must be able to work with minimum direction in a complex environment
- Must be able to analyze, diagnose and resolve very complex data management related problems independently
- Must be able to develop efficient and effective data management solutions for the most complex business problems
- Must be able to effectively adapt to rapidly changing technologies and apply them to technological and/or business needs
- Must be highly technically proficient in core technologies and methodologies used by the team
- Must have proven technical and methodological skills and be able to direct the team on complex technical problems
- Must be able to apply highly developed technical skills to mentor and coach other team members on technical subjects relating to data management
- Ability to set objectives and goals, break down concepts into manageable achievable steps, and assess risks and problems

CERTIFIED IN ONE OF THE FOLLOWING OR COMPARABLE EXPERIENCE:

- CBIP (Certified Business Intelligence Professional) from TDWI
- CDMP (Certified Data Management Professional) from DAMA
- Demonstrated expertise in a variety of data management technical disciplines

SOFTWARE SKILLS

- Oracle, 4 - 6 years
- PL/SQL, 2 - 4 years
- SQL, 4 - 6 years
- SQL Server, 2 - 4 years
- Sybase, 2 - 4 years
- Datastage preferred

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

- Responsible for creating, maintaining, and tuning application databases in test environments
- Responsible for preparing all application database scripts
- Fosters an environment where the team develops innovative technical solutions to problems
- Ability to review others work for quality and completeness for complex technical documents
- Ability to provide estimates for large and complex size work efforts increasing accuracy of the estimate as work effort progresses
- Ability to mentor peer or junior staff on technical subjects across the enterprise
- Ability to research, evaluate and select vendor products, methodologies and processes
- Ability to manage their tasks on complex size work efforts in support of the project life cycle
- Ability to acquire in-depth knowledge of Health Insurance terminology and concepts
- Understands and participates in deliverables required by approved project life cycles
- Develops complex data management design artifacts in support of business processes and objectives within Client Server, Internet, Intranet, and Mainframe architectures
- Determines and/or directs database design and prepares work estimates for development or changes
- Uses industry best practices and deep technical knowledge to develop and/or direct the creation of efficient, maintainable and cost/effective databases
- Prepares and/or directs in the creation of test plans and test criteria
- Prepares and/or directs the creation and maintenance of data management documentation
- Provides information to others so that accurate decisions can be made for all work assignments
- Knows when it is appropriate to escalate
- Provides expert technical consulting support for IT and business partners by researching, identifying and applying data management solutions to problems
- Actively seeks ways to maximize the reuse of existing database design solutions to business or technical requirements or problems
- Quickly learns and adapts to new technology and methodologies
- Provides technical training to their team or Business partners through formal and informal training sessions
- Has crossover knowledge into other technical disciplines which facilitate the understanding, coordination and communication between technical areas
- Through leadership and sharing of technical knowledge makes everyone on the team perform better, gain higher compliance to industry technical standards and makes databases more efficient and maintainable
- Adheres to policies, procedures, and standards
- Prepares individual and team work plans and reports activities, tasks, milestones, deliverables, schedules, and status reports, as appropriate
- Performs research and estimating of proposed pieces of work
