DESCRIPTION:

The Business Consultant is responsible for collecting and analysing business requirements to support the delivery of information technology solutions for Investments, Investment Finance and Corporate Division clients.

This position will support the delivery of data and information solutions used by Front Office, risk management and finance operations teams. Preferred candidates will be experienced in the areas of financial derivative instruments, business systems integration, enterprise data management tools, and Business Intelligence technologies, approaches and practices (including Datamodelling, data aggregation, investment management metric reporting, and data service construction).

This position leads requirements management activities for enterprise projects and application enhancement releases. It manages and participates in the collection, prioritization, documentation and analysis of requirements and system specifications.

- Build and extend subject area logical and physical data models with respect to financial instruments, legal entities, portfolios, valuations, transactions, geography, currency, and others for an Enterprise Data Warehouse. Provide subject area expertise and guidance as to data content, data flows, and data standards within the subject areas being modeled.
- Assist to maintain financial instrument product models for over a hundred traded financial products to support Risk and Compliance reporting requirements.
- Work with business analysts, as well as other modelers and developers to extend current data models from an enterprise perspective to support multiple data consumers.
- Manage logical and physical data models in a "model-based" environment using the company's model-management software. Specifically this entails managing multiple models per environment and different models across environments to support design and development throughout the SDLC process.
- Provide expertise with model transformations between relational and de-normalized data models, as well as data service models, to support enterprise star-schemas as well as enterprise data services.
- Must be able to co-ordinate workload and work in a collaborative environment, sharing design and modelling responsibilities, as well as communicating changes effectively to functional partners.

SKILLS (MANDATORY 5+ YEARS EXPERIENCE IN EACH):

- Must have good communication skills.
- Data Modeling expertise using a CASE tool, such as ER Studio, ERWin, Powerdesigner, etc. Should be able to maintain and support logical and physical data models with such a tool.
- Strong Logical Modeling expertise is required.  Should be able to make best practice decisions when transforming from business data requirements to logical models, and then from logical models to physical models.
- Must have enterprise database design experience (ie design for more than one consumer).
- Must be able to describe the design of subject areas in a data warehouse with emphasis on financial instrument Datamodelling, legal entity Datamodelling, countries, credit ratings, ie any subject area that supports  enterprise reporting and data aggregations for application reporting and analytics
- Must be able to translate business data requirements into a data model  

SKILLS (NICE TO HAVE):

- Should have experience with the design of 3NF relational models, as well as star-schemas and snow-flake schema models.
- Knowledge of capital markets subject areas including financial instruments, market and reference data, and transaction/position life cycle preferred
