They are currently seeking a Data Modeler to join their team.

The Data Modeler will be responsible for collection of data requirements, conceptualization of high level data models, development of detailed logical models, translation of logical models to physical models, and maintenance and enhancement of the models over the project life cycle. The data modeler will work with business subject matter experts and functional IT areas to document data attributes and requirements and ensure the appropriate controls and verifications are in place for solid data integrity that are consistent with the architectural road map and that promote extensibility and usability throughout the organization, its external partners and customers.

Essential Functions:

- Drive the development of an Enterprise Data Model (EDM) and architectural artifacts (logical, conceptual, physical data models) to serve as both the strategic and tactical planning vehicles to manage the enterprise database and data warehouse
- Develop and maintain a formal description of the data and data structures, including data definitions, data dictionaries, data flow diagrams
- Collaborate with Enterprise, System and Application Architects on the use of enterprise data, including guidance in the understanding and utilization of the underlying data and business models, and identifying optimal data sourcing and mapping
- Collaborate with IT Developers to ensure quality and compliance to the Enterprise Data Architecture by participating in data analysis and facilitating data modelling and design activities
- Create the data architecture sections of the SDLC and conduct appropriate technical data design reviews at various stages during the development life cycle. This includes providing data modelling expertise with both relational and dimensional modelling techniques
- Define, develop and deliver consistent information and data standards, methodologies, guidelines, best practices and approved modelling techniques around data quality, data governance and data security
- Collaborate with the Business Intelligence Developers and business SMEs in designing and optimizing data marts
- Identify opportunities for standardizing data descriptions, capturing and maintaining metadata, creating business rules and governance around the use of data
- Provide guidance and recommendations to the team and management on data architecture best practices in the areas of data integration and archiving and elimination of data redundancy

Education & Experience:

- Bachelor's degree preferred, however, candidates with considerable related experience will also be considered

Minimum Qualifications:
Familiarity with relational databases, including Oracle, DB2, SQL Server, and 3 to 5 years of hands-on experience in:

- Translating business requirements into conceptual, logical, and physical data models using tools such as ERwin, ER Studio or Data Architect
- Enforcing data standards and conventions (definition, naming, and abbreviation)
- Creating mappings between source and target system, understanding the source data and identifying the appropriate data sources
- Creating and implementing data dictionaries and metadata management
- Conducting extensive data analysis to evaluate data sources to determine the best source for business information
- Engaging business users to ensure that appropriate business needs are clearly defined, communicated and delivered at or above expectations
- Participating in the full life cycle software development including requirements gathering, design documentation, test case development, system & integration testing, Business Intelligence (BI) implementations and systems integration
- Developing the data architecture documentation as part of the SDLC process and conducting appropriate technical data design reviews at various stages during the development life cycle
- Working with developers in implementing efficient databases, including specifying physical characteristics, gathering statistics, creating profiles, designing efficient indexes
- Preferred Qualifications:
- Master's degree in information technology, computer sciences or technical discipline
- Familiarity with relational databases, including Oracle, DB2, SQL Server, and 5 to 7 years of hands-on experience in the data management arena
- Experience working with MySQL CGE
- Experience in SQL server SSIS, SSAS and Microsoft BI tools
- Experience with SOA
- Experience with Agile methodologies
- Designing and developing data acquisition, integration, transformation, de-duplication, security and archival strategies throughout enterprise level solutions
- Creating and implementing MDM strategies, data quality and governance frameworks in support of enterprise architecture and data stewardship efforts
- Designing and creating database objects, writing database procedures, functions and triggers
- Using ETL tools to develop operational data stores and data warehouses
- Writing complex SQL, and using performance tuning tools
- Leading reviews with enterprise architects and other staff to ensure compliance with Enterprise Architectural standards and best practices
