A fantasic opportunity for a Data Modeler to work for a leading Pharma Client in San Diego.

Desired Skill Set

* Bachelor's degree in computer science, IT or mathematics
* 3 to 5 years of data management experience
* Proven ability to analyze, troubleshoot, and make sound recommendations
* Familiar with data modeling tools and mythologies and be knowledgeable in database system applications, data base programming and data warehousing
* 5+ years of working using data modeling tools such as ER Studio, or Rational Data Architect supporting IT development projects.
* .NET, C# and TFS experience is a plus
* SSIS and SSAS experience is a plus
* SQL server management studio
* Visual Studio
* 5+ years of SQL experience
* Logical Data modeling
* Physical Data modeling
* Development of a data strategy and associated polices
* Selection of capabilities and systems to meet business information needs
* Kimball methodology

Description:
* Analyzed organizational data requirements and create logical and physical data models using best practices to ensure high data quality and reduced redundancy.
* Interviewing key project stakeholders, documenting findings and making detailed recommendations
* Working with database administrators and reporting teams to ensure the availability of standard adhoc reporting in a production environment
* Addressing data quality issues with clients and management
* Solution delivery while maintaining the benefits of flexibility and abstraction to change found in good data modeling disciplines.
* The solutions created will support both enterprise level databases as well as application specific databases (Star Schema data marts).
* Creates Extraction and Transformation Layer (ETL) operability (data specifications that are in tune with the way users will access the data and the types of reports and queries they will run.
* Identifies and designs facts and dimensions as appropriate to the defined user requirements
* Understand and translate business needs into data models supporting long-term solutions.
* Work with the Report Development team to implement data strategies, build data flows and develop conceptual data models.
* Optimize and update logical and physical data models to support new and existing projects.
* Maintain conceptual, logical and physical data models along with corresponding metadata.
* Develop best practices for standard naming conventions and coding practices to ensure consistency of data models.
* Recommend opportunities for reuse of data models in new environments.
* Perform reverse engineering of physical data models from databases and SQL scripts.
* Evaluate data models and physical databases for variances and discrepancies.
* Analyze data-related system integration challenges and propose appropriate solutions.
* Develop data models according to company standards.
* Guide System Analysts, QA Engineers, Report developers and others on project limitations and capabilities, performance requirements and interfaces.
* Review modifications to existing queries to improve efficiency and performance.
* Examine new application design and recommend corrections if required.
