Data Mining Specialist - SPSS - SQL

JOB PURPOSE

The Data Mining Analyst will report directly to the Head of Base Management
They will be responsible for analysing data to predict and understand customers' behaviours, to release the latent value in customer & transactional data and to enable data driven decisions
They will gather, validate, format and analyse data from a variety of sources and be responsible for delivering the analysis and interpretation to drive decision making
They will apply predictive modelling techniques where appropriate including clustering, decision trees and other techniques to assist the business to look at best prospects for upsell or to identify the customers most at risk of churn.
They will work closely with colleagues in Base Management, Campaigns and external Data Mining providers to identify the ideal target groups for campaigns and to augment standard post campaign analyses

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Build and produce models in SPSS in the area of classification, segmentation to industry standards (CRISP).
Maintain Current Churn Propensity Model
Build Acquisition Model
Build Access to Broadband Cross Sell Model
Build Access to Mobile Cross Sell Model
Perform exploratory and ad-hoc data analysis with a view to generating customer insights and recommendations to the business (this process is both in reaction to requests from the business, but also as a proactive activity).
Translate the business problems presented to them into a data analysis approach.
Represent analytics in a way that is business-user friendly and easy to interpret.
Work closely with the business to interpret analyses and formulate the So What'.
Work with Base Management and Campaigns Analyst to build targets for campaigns to drive sales and retain customers
Input into campaign design to ensure the most effective structure for campaign evaluation and assist in post campaign analyses beyond the standard reports.
Work with the wider business stakeholders to conduct analysis to identify target groups for propositions.
Actively participate in the development of reporting enhancements, including the creation of new reporting templates and analytical reports.
Work in close collaboration with the Business Intelligence and Sales Support team to ensure analysis is shared between both teams
Develop efficiencies to increase the effectiveness of analytics.
Represent team in Business wide initiatives

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

Have at least 2+ years experience in a data analyst role, preferably dealing with large volumes of data.
Experience using predictive analytics tools (SPSS)
Hold a relevant primary degree in mathematics, computer science, statistics, or a relevant numerate degree (Masters in Data Analytics preferred).
Experience working with analytical tools in a commercial setting
Experience delivering Business Intelligence services in a commercial setting
Experience working with multiple and disparate data sources
Strong knowledge and comprehension of technology and data management techniques used in the process of collecting, storing and retrieving data
Knowledge of CRM, profiling, modelling and database management is essential
Experience in developing Analytical tools eg: reporting toolkits, dashboards

TECHNICAL SKILLS:

o Commercial experience with analysis and reporting tools (eg: R, SPSS, SAS, Hyperian, BIQuery, Cognos,etc.).
o Advanced SQL skills query capability and logical schema design and implementation for analytics.
o Expert proficiency with MS Excel and MS Access.
o Strong proficiency with other MS Office applications.
o Knowledge of Visual Basic for Applications (VBA).
o Basic statistical knowledge.
