Data Miner/Data Analyst

THE ROLE:

Our client is a large federal government agency undertaking a range of technical projects within a constantly changing environment.

As a result of this they have a requirement for several Data Miners and Analysts to join then for a contract through to June 2015. There are also long-term extension on offer.

The role will see you working closely with relevant business areas to deliver a full range of analysis and research activities with associated reporting.

The more senior roles will involve leading teams, and providing assistance and mentoring to the more junior team members.

DUTIES:

- Performing statistical and data analysis;
- Participating in analysis outcome workshops;
- Producing documents describing the business rules arising out of statistical analysis;
- Acquiring, cleansing and preparing data for analysis;
- Building predictive models for risk detection

ESSENTIAL SKILLS AND ATTRIBUTES

- Well-developed verbal and written communications skills
- Experience using R for statistical analysis and predictive modelling, and SQL for data manipulation
- Excellent understanding of a range of predictive and descriptive modelling techniques;
- Proven experience in building systems for the Real Time deployment of statistical models;
- Proven experience in developing production or commercial grade statistical software applications;
- Proven experience with a range of software and statistical development platforms (such as SAS, Java, C/C++, Python, MATLAB etc);
- Experience with one or more Scripting language for process automation;

OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

- Australian citizenship
- Minimum Baseline Clearance
