Data Migration Specialist (f/m)

Our Client is a multinational corporation with more than 10.000 employees worldwide and more than 30 years of experience in the financial services industry. For its location in Vienna we are looking for a Data Migration Specialist (f/m) in an unlimited permanent position.

Your Responsibilities:

In order to support a 3-year corporate-wide project to retire several legacy applications and mass convert their approximately 40 historical databases to a unified, replacement database (with transactional, operational and data warehouse components), the Data Migration Specialist assigned to the project will:
Analyze and create detailed high level design specifications, detailed conversion execution plans, data validation test plans, and restart/rerun specifications
Analyze and define data transformation scripts for massaging, cleansing, merging, and associating legacy data into newly designed target physical data model
Serve a subject matter expert, business analyst, and data specialist to the small team of dedicated SQL programmers writing the necessary conversion scripts and ETL programs/procedures
Lead the execution of the database conversion efforts during each phase of the 3-year project including:
Support for production parallel of the new system and validation of the results versus the legacy production results
Conversion of the historical (10-year) datao Purging production parallel data/periods
Archive and retire legacy databases where appropriate

Your Qualification:
Minimum of 5 years of SQL database design and development experience
Hands-on, detailed execution experience with at least 2 large-scale database conversion/migration projects spanning several months of design, development and successful conversion
Advanced technical skills in Microsoft SQL Server Database Management Systems
Proven experience in database modelling / design
Advanced technical skills in data migration tools and scripts specific to Microsoft SQL Server (e.g. ETL development, SSIS, SSAS, SSRS)
Excellent analytical skills and technical writing skills
Good interpersonal skills and ability to interact with stakeholders at all project levels (in particular business operations users and SQL programmers)
