Data Manager

Background
Our Central Government Client has a 5 month requirement for a Data Manager based in Brighton. They are looking for someone to design and implement the approach to managing data and ensure that all data held by is managed in compliance with legislation surrounding information, relevant standards and business requirements.

Main Duties/Responsibilities
You will. design and deliver departments information and data management programme strategy. embed the concept of information management throughout the department by effectively engaging and negotiating with Senior Management Team and provide a focal point for data owners. develop best practice for how the organisation knows what data it holds, how it is used, where it is stored and how it is managed and protected consistently. ensure that data quality standards are established and that processes are in place to meet these. lead and embedding ownership of data management by establishing and assigning ownership and responsibility. promote a culture of strong data management and protection. ensure that data is captured, protected, and managed throughout its life cycle, following primary and secondary legislation, including: Data Protection Act 1998 Freedom of Information Act 2000 Public Records Act 1958 Human Rights Act 1998 Pensions Acts 1995, 2004, 2008 and 2011

Skills/Experience Required
Experience of implementing organisation-wide data management theory and practice, industry standard data models and patterns, information frameworks (eg Zachman, TOGAF) and data and process governance (ownership and coordination). Conceptual, logical and physical Datamodelling, tools and standards and data quality metrics. Experience of designing and maintaining policies and controls. Knowledge of data dictionaries and standards in addition to common business glossaries. Legislation and standards surrounding data across the entire life cycle. Business analysis (requirements gathering; data management processes; dataflow diagrams). Risk frameworks and associated processes and systems
