Data Engineer

Our hugely popular client is looking for a talented Data Engineer to help manage their ever growing information needs and support data analysis of increasingly complex business questions. You will be working with one of the world's largest and most complex data environments in the analytics team and will develop the next generation Datamart solution to give customers timely, flexible and structured access to their data. You'll build and maintain database solutions that are used for daily reporting and drive business decision making while dealing efficiently with the massive scale of data available through the Data Warehouse. You will be responsible for designing and modelling metadata, building reports and dashboards. You are expected to build efficient, flexible, extensible, and scalable ETL design and mappings.

We're looking for Data Engineers who are passionate about data architecture and data-driven decision making, uncompromisingly detail oriented, smart, efficient, and driven to help our business succeed. You know and love working with analytic tools, can write excellent SQL and Unix Scripts, and you are an advocate for your customers. You should be an expert familiar with all of the data warehousing technical components (eg ETL, Reporting, Data Model), infrastructure (eg hardware and software) and their integration. You should have extensive experience with Star Schemas, Dimensional Models, and Datamart. You are analytical and creative, and you don't quit.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Develop and support the next generation Datamart for timely, flexible and structured access to data.
- Design and implement scalable and efficient ETL, modelling metadata and building reports.
- Interact with customers to gather requirements and build structured reporting solutions.
- Tune application and query performance using UNIX profiling tools and SQL.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

- You know and love working with multidimensional datasets, can write excellent Oracle SQL, PL/SQL and Unix Scripts
- 3+ years' experience with and detailed knowledge of data warehouse technical architectures, ETL/ELT and reporting/analytic tools and environments, data structures
- 2+ years' experience in architecting data warehouse solutions and integrating technical components
- 3+ years' experience with relational and star schema data modelling concepts

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

- Experience with Big Data solutions - Hadoop or other framework
- Exposure to BI applications performance tuning, experience working with large volume of data
- Understanding of agile software development cycle

This contract position is expected to be 6 months in duration.
