Data Development Project Manager

Data Development Project Manager - Bristol - 3 month contract. My client in Bristol is looking for a Data Development Project Manager to join them on a contract basis initially until March 2013. The role is needed to manage a team to deliver a programme of work which will involve maintaining and developing databases to efficiently store and retrieve information. The Manager will also be responsible for developing best practice for systems and processes used to develop systems and analysis tools for the data teams.
The ideal candidate will have the following skills/experience:
-Experience of working with large datasets including databases and statistical software packages and a comprehensive understanding of data-handling techniques.
-Recognised level of expertise in the field of data and information, to enable effective decision-making and the provision of authoritative advice and guidance to senior and junior colleagues and stakeholders.
-Experience of successful engagement with internal and external contacts.
-Experience of successfully implementing quality assurance procedures and an eye for detail, ensuring outputs are accurate and fit for purpose.
-Ability to lead and develop teams, motivate staff, manage performance and provide feedback to help individuals and teams develop and excel.
-Excellent technical skills in appropriate programming languages such as SQL to manage, manipulate and quality assure large and complex sets of data.
-Ability to represent own work area and collaborate with other teams.
-Ability to bring a broader perspective when seeking solutions; using analysis and problem-solving skills to effectively contribute to strategic development.
-Well-developed written and verbal communication skills, including influencing and negotiating skills.
-Ability to identify what needs to be done and independently organise themselves to push forward projects.
-RSS ordinary certificate in statistics or equivalent or higher qualification incorporating statistics.
