Data Developer - £440 a day - London

PURPOSE OF THIS ROLE

A position has become available within the Data Warehousing development team for a Senior MicroStrategy Developer to work on strategic projects. The role is working within the Data Warehouse function to deliver and maintain the strategic data warehouse for my banking client

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

Reporting to the MicroStrategy Development Lead, the candidate will work on all aspects MicroStrategy design and development. This includes providing input to Datamodelling activities; architecting schema layer objects and developing presentation/public objects within the MicroStrategy Platform.

The candidate will need to have significant experience of working with data in large complex and fast moving Business Intelligence projects. Demonstrable experience in MicroStrategy architecture design and development is mandatory. Experience of data warehousing on DB2 is highly desirable as is experience of star schema design.

Specific accountabilities include:

- Design, development, unit testing and documentation of all MicroStrategy deliverables within assigned projects or releases
- Definition and implementation of best practice standards across design and development

ESSENTIAL CRITERIA

TECHNICAL SKILLS

- Degree qualified (2:1 or above) or equivalent experience, with a background and experience in IT development at a senior level
- Deep and demonstrable experience of involvement with the delivery of multiple large scale MicroStrategy projects, from server configuration through to dashboard delivery
- Proven MicroStrategy development lifecycle experience in the Financial Services/Telecommunications/or other high volume data industries
- Design and development experience with the MicroStrategy 9, including creating dashboards using iCubes
- Experience of development work in dimensional Data Warehouse environments
- Experience of secure design and development experience, in particular meeting PCI-DSS security standards
- Experience of defining and implementing MicroStrategy design and development standards
- Clear experience of design and development work on high volume systems
- Clear experience of designing software solutions using industry standard methodology
- Ability to understand the key concepts and business value of a data exploitation layer, adapting to multiple technologies beyond MicroStrategy
- Excellent problem-solving skills
- Ability to understand a business problem and pick an effective and pragmatic solution

DESIRABLE CRITERIA

- Experience of the Payment Services industry
- Knowledge of globally accepted data governance techniques and methods.
- Experience in DB2 RDBMS
- Experience in and understanding of ERWIN
- Exposure to Ab Initio ETL
- Experience of agile software development methodologies, particularly Scrum
- Proven business analysis skills
- Basic knowledge of the UNIX operating system
- Experience of development against relational database technologies (eg DB2, SQL Server)
