Data Centre (Expert) Engineer

SPECIFIC CONTEXT: DATA CENTRE OPTIMIZATION PROJECT.

(7) Datacentre Management Tools (Given the complexity of today's data centres, maintaining optimal
conditions requires the aid of the proper tools).

The Contractor will be accountable to the Head of Unit ICS and provide expert advice and guide the ICS Unit to
implement a state-of-the-art data centre.
The definition and implementation of a state-of-the-art data centre. is imperative for the future.
It is expected that the contractor will perform an audit of the current data centre and that he/she defines the strategy and improvement project to transition from the current data centre to the optimized data centre.
1) The first and most important task is however to draft the requirements to define a turn-key project to
install additional cooling alleys in two equipment rooms;
2) The second main task is to define the optimized datacentre' and the strategy and project to
transition from the current data centre to the optimized data centre. The following, non-exhaustive,
topics are expected to be addressed:
Define the actions that are necessary to improve the management of the datacentre;
Cost reduction by means of standardization;
Cost reduction by means of optimized installation approaches and interconnections between
network and hardware installations;
Cost reduction by optimal use of floor space and reduced impact on the environment such as
eg reduced cooling needs;
Implementation of management processes that support effective management of the datacentre.
At present the data centre is management by three distinct teams and the objective is to create
one team that will be responsible to manage the data centre.
Define the datacentre training needs and corresponding training plan.

STAFF DIPLOMA:
Bachelor's or Master's degree in engineering (Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Telecommunications), or equivalent professional ICT experience.
Certified Datacentre Design Consultant (DCDC) or Certified Datacentre Expert (CDCS) or equivalent
certification
PRINCE2 certified; or equivalent certification.

STAFF SKILLS:
Minimum of 10 years relevant experience IT technology: thorough practical experience in the following technical domains:
o Data centre architecture/consultant;
o Defining a Data Centre strategy, Data Centre design and technical plan;
o Data Centre standards;
o Optimization of IT hardware installations, eg location of patch panels, network equipment,
Servers, etc
o Writing data centre requirements at the level of facility and IT infrastructure;
o Broad experience in DCIM specifications and implementations;
o Implementation of complex Data centres;
Be able to approach the Data Centre topics from a high level view as well as being able to discuss issues at a detailed level;
Advice, define, optimize and guide the implementation of data centre related service processes
