1. PURPOSE

The role of Data Centre Engineer will be to carry out operational tasks for the CLIENT Data Centre environments.

2. BACKGROUND

Reporting to the Services Lead, the incumbent performs the overall tasks that have been assigned to her/him including planning, managing, tracking, and reporting on the status of those activities.

The incumbent works closely with other colleagues to ensure that the Data Centre Environments are functioning well, and that processes and procedures are in place to support the smooth operations.

3. WORK TO BE PERFORMED

The expectations of this engagement include, but are not limited to, the following:

Process service requests assigned to the Global DataCentre queue in the CLIENT ticketing system.

Perform administration of the Backup Infrastructure, installing updates and troubleshooting events in error state (DELL EMC Networker 9.2, DataDomain 6300 and Quantum i500 LTO7).

Collaborate to the vSphere upgrade from 6.0 to 6.5.

Monitor the VMware farm, investigate anomalies and troubleshoot server in error state.

Deploy Windows Virtual and physical Servers, based on IMT/ESS guidelines;

Liaising with DELL EMC technical support to upgrade to latest firmware and drivers for the necessary physical Servers.

Troubleshoot hardware related issues, liaising with external vendors for replacements or interventions.

Liaising with the CLIENT Windows and Active Directory engineer, inventory and prepare a roadmap to migrate Windows 2008 Servers to Windows 2016.

In coordination with the CLIENT Windows and Active Directory engineer, migrate all the infrastructure related Windows 2008 to Windows 2016 (NOT Active Directory Domain Controllers).

Assist Xerox THE CLIENT support during the version upgraded of the Equitrac environment.

React, solve or escalate alerts sent by the monitoring tool, during Geneva working hours.

Carry out other duties and responsibilities as assigned by supervisor.

4. EXPECTED DELIVERABLE(S)

Deliverable 1: Adequately execute and perform ongoing tasks as delineated in the above work to be performed. Performance will be measured by the incumbent's ability to adequately fulfil their duties on a pass/fail basis.

Deliverable 2: Throughout the term of employment: troubleshoot, liaise, and coordinate with relevant parties' and supervisor's needs.

5. ESSENTIAL KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS

At least 5 years of working experience in the following domains:

o GPO creation for users and server environments;

o Windows Server 2012 R2/2016 administration;

o Windows Server monitoring tools;

Working experience of Windows Servers hosted in VMware vSphere 5.5 or 6.0;

Working experience of vSphere 6.0/6.5;

Working experience of Backup Systems administration and operations, experience with DELL EMC Networker 9.x, DataDomain, Quantum tape libraries would be an asset.

Ability to effectively collaborate with teams in an international, multi-cultural, multi-disciplinary environment; separated by geographical locations and working under different time-zones.

Ability to promote best practices, advise on improvements, independently perform research, and apply information from a broad range of sources.

Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to influence, negotiate, advocate, motivate, resolve conflict, and adapt relevant leadership styles to a variety of situations.

Excellent communication (both oral and written), problem solving and analytical skills

Strong supervisory, organizational, management, and consultancy skills.

Proactive, flexible, resourceful and able to work independently with limited supervision.

Ability to stay calm and analytical during troubleshooting in stressful circumstances.

Desirable

Appropriate Microsoft/VMware Certification;

Working experience of Microsoft Hyper-V;

6. USE OF LANGUAGE SKILLS

Expert knowledge in spoken and written English.

Basic knowledge in French is desirable, but not mandatory.

7. DURATION

The engagement will initially be for four (4) months on a Time and Materials basis with a possibility of renewal for another three (3) months based on several factors such as performance and project needs.

There is no guarantee of continued and/or ongoing employment with THE CLIENT in any capacity following the end of this contract.
