SUMMARY:

Our client is seeking a Data Center Engineer with a strong background in supporting major Data Centers. The Data Center Engineer provides reliable and secure technical operation of maintenance and security of all client Windows Servers and ensures that the Data Center environment is reliably backed according to schedule. You will serve as a point of reference for other engineers and team members, and support the development effort in review of system hardware, software, and system design to assure system requirements are met. In this role, you will be focused heavily on virtualization projects. There are approximately 1500 Servers, and you will need to ensure mission critical Servers are available and operating 24 hours a day and 7 days a week. In this role, you are also responsible for participating in all system/sub-system hardware and software integration and acceptance testing. This is a 6 month contract opportunity.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Part of the team that sets policy; monitors; prioritizes; and develops standards as well as maintains service levels for the production environment
- Must design, deploy, maintain and troubleshoot infrastructure for multiple production environments
- Proactively suggest alternative solutions and designs; third party tools to solve the problems at hand
- As a member of the team will respond to all system problems on a 7X24 basis and take part in on-call rotation
- Lead and participate in the writing of system; test and test reporting documentation to assure that design and test results meet customer requirements
- Administrator Servers and implement hardware and software upgrades
- Run production jobs as scheduled. Monitor all server activity for problems; diagnose and resolve problems according to procedure. Escalate problems to the appropriate levels necessary.
- Carry out system maintenance tasks on all client Servers as required
- Develop server operating procedures
- Handle 2nd and 3rd level support request as needed
- Participate in development of disaster recovery plans
- Carry a mobile phone off hours on a rotation within the team; in order to monitor and take action where appropriate to ensure continued reliable accessibility of the Client's Servers.

QUALIFICATIONS:

- Bachelor's degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, or combination of education and 5 years minimum of equivalent experience
- Visio experience
- Expert knowledge of Microsoft Active Directory Services and enterprise management
- Experience in Windows 2000/2003/2008 Server domain design and implementation
- Proficient in TCP/IP, DHCP, DNS, WINS technology
- Managing Windows 2000/2003/2008 mix mode enterprises
- Knowledge of Microsoft Exchange 5.5/2000/ Server
- Windows 2000/2003/2008 Administration training
- VMware ESX experience
- Solid Knowledge of SAN architecture and technology
- Experience with backup software and strategies
- Experience with disk configuration and use of RAID with NT
- Strong knowledge of Internet computing technologies
- An understanding of performance, backup, security issues, and registry settings
- Expert in Windows 2000/2003/2008 AD domain design and implementation
- Administration level knowledge of Microsoft SQL Server 2000/2005/2008
- Administration level knowledge of Microsoft Internet Information Server (IIS)
- VBS and PowerShell experience
- CommVault experience
- MCSE certification a plus
