DATA CENTER AND SYSTEMS - BACKUP & RECOVERY ARCHITECT

Location: Nr Lausanne, Switzerland

Term: 12 months

ROLE PURPOSE

- Develop strategy, co-ordinate and implement project activities.
- Deliver solutions tailored for the internal customers
- Drive backup & recovery service to best-in-class level.

MAIN RESPONIBILITIES

DESIGN AND ARCHITECTURE FOR DATACENTRE BACKUP & RECOVERY

- Ensure Backup & Recovery Architecture is developed and maintained with the supported processes and procedures to achieve the required RTO/RPO
- Ensure the datacentres have the solutions capable of achieving Availability targets
- Manage the definition, evaluation, sizing and standardisation of all Backup & Recovery hardware and systems software in the datacenters
- Ensure alignment of Backup & Recovery strategy with the SAP Database architecture for scalability, performance and availability.
- Ensure availability of quality documentation (Standards, Design and Installation Guides, Run Books) for reference by datacentre operations personnel
- Coordinate new releases with various vendors
- Communicate and align with counterparts in other architecture teams, and operations team
- Be accountable end-to-end for the compliance of the implementation to the standards

CHANGE/PROJECT MANAGEMENT

- Coordinate changes to the design of assigned components, and their implementation in the datacentres.
- Follow established project management methodologies for driving the introduction of new technologies.

IMPLEMENTATION SUPPORT

- Provide regular assistance, and knowledge transfer to the operations team, and other architects
- Support the operations team in implementing the design

TECHNOLOGY WATCH

- Recommend new solutions based on latest technologies and best practices available on the market.
- Drive the backup & recovery solution, as part of the whole datacentre design, towards continuous availability, reduced complexity and improved manageability.
- Stay up-to-date with technologies and keep in touch with vendors to evaluate the latest developments in their portfolio
