DATA ARCHITECT - BELGIUM - INITIALLY 11 MONTHS CONTRACT - RATE TBC

Our client is looking for Data Architect for its development teams working on in-house developed products.

Description of the project the data architect will be working in:

- Blend in with an agile software development team, developing business products in short development cycles (using scrum)
- Translate data requirements into IT specifications (logical & physical data models) related to our client business processes (gas flow management, asset management, other), while respecting the existing architecture and systems.
- Assist the team in producing high quality documentation and products, based on defined specifications and following data architecture principles.
- Assist the DBA's in the deployment of database changes in the production environment

Responsibility of Data Architect:

- Produce logical & physical data models by analysis and translation of conceptual models:
- Ensure quality control of models and documents via guidance and feedback to functional analysts
- Obtain the right compromise between normalization and performance, in cooperation with the technical architect(s)
- Consult other database architect(s) in order to guard and enhance the global architecture
- Apply the client standards in terms of naming standards, data integrity, security and performance
- Data-migration problem solving
- Examine query patterns & build an appropriate strategy for indexing and partitioning
- Analyse query performance issues & suggest possible solutions
- Produce robust and reliable scripts for migrating databases in all relevant environments

Experience & expertise required from the Data Architect:

- Background knowledge of the gas flow management business domain is an asset
- Knowledge of CBD principles, architectural techniques and structures
- Comfortable in imposing the most appropriate solution for data structure challenges
- Fluency in the use of UML and DB development toolsets
- Demonstrated experience in RDBMS design, implementation & optimization
- Extensive experience in SQL (Oracle, SQL Server)

Communication Skills:

- Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills specific to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Ability to rapidly absorb information when reading analysis documents
- Ability to successfully defend your ideas when discussing with Analysts or Technical Architects
- Ability to produce easy to read models and documents
