Data Architect

My client is a global engineering company based in the West Midlands, they are keen to recruit an experienced Data Architect to support a major transformation programme within the Purchasing business function. The Data Architect is designated to be responsible for the design, structure, organisation, and maintenance of the data artefacts developed and delivered through the Purchasing transformation programme and is also responsible for creating data designs and solutions that meet organisational standards and governance procedures.

This includes both structured and unstructured data:

Enforces principles of best practice data design.
Examines and recommends opportunities to provide data reuse, balancing the issues of centralisation and replication.
Ensures delivery of quality materials from the data analysts within the team
Ensures the preservation of strategic data assets as applications and technologies come and go
Supports the development of Master Data elements to achieve high quality and re-use of corporate assets
Develops roadmaps for information analytics exploitation
Contributes to the development and maintenance of the Enterprise Data Model and other key products
Shares knowledge with other data architects.

In this role you may be involved in wider BI projects and designs the data warehouse and data mart schemas to ensure optimal performance and assists in ETL development efforts, making sure that the business rules are implemented correctly and clarifying issues as they arise.

KEY TECHNICAL SKILLS:

Able to read, develop and maintain data models and data dictionaries

Understands and is able to implement different levels of data model, eg conceptual, logical, physical

Familiarity with data design tools, Erwin and Sparx EA.

Experience in using data manipulation tools including SQL, Toad, OEM etc

Understanding of the principles and practice of data quality

Understanding of data as part of an overall enterprise architecture, such as data to process and data to applications.

Understanding of the key principles of data security in relation to personal or confidential data.

Understanding of the importance of managing data over its entire life cycle.

Any experience of SAP Data Services suite would be desirable
