Data Architect

RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Own the R&D Data Strategy
- Liaison between Business and IT
- Analysis of data architecture requirements, architecture design and oversight of implementation. Data handling including ingestion, indexing, analytics, storage and access.
- Work with business domain experts to develop data analytics requirements, data models and algorithms.
- Data security design and oversight of implementation
- Data warehousing design and oversight of implementation
- Development of information and data models applying corporate and industry standards.
- Develop and publish guidelines, best practices, standards. Provide training where needed
- Lead data integration and technology strategy and roadmap leveraging MDM, MDR and integration hub platforms
- Data standardization and harmonization efforts

SKILLS:

REQUIRED SKILLS/EXPERIENCE:

- 16+ years of proven experience in data architecture
- 3+ years of experience with Big Data platforms and analytics
- Design and implementation of distributed, scalable, relational, dimensional, and NoSQL databases on premise or cloud storage architectures
- Experience in Data Architecture
- Strong communication skills, particularly with the ability to articulate data management strategy for an organization
- Should have Cloud experience - certification is not required
- Strong knowledge of Operational Data Store/Data Warehousing methodologies, principles, and platforms
- Experience in leading and consulting on the implementation and integration of data warehouses
- Application of data mining techniques to structured and unstructured data for pattern discovery, insights into KPIs and solutions to real world business problems.
- Expert in data modelling, data ingestion techniques, indexing, data pedigree and lineage
- Expertise in Statistical analysis and algorithm development
- Ability to work independently and effectively collaborate with customers, partners and team members
- Experience in technical leadership
- Must have very strong experience creating data architecture and integration solutions using proprietary in-house developed/off-the-shelf vendor developed tools and integrating w/internal/external systems
- Able to articulate and communicate a data architecture and integration vision, understand the technologies in the marketplace and provide a strategic perspective to staff and executive management
- Heavy database and integration tool experience with Informatica Data Management technologies (MDM, MDR, DQM), and data-centric technologies including Oracle RDBMS, Tibco ESB, Informatica ETL and Data Virtualization tools
- Knowledge of BI and reporting tools. Tool knowledge includes relational databases and content management systems (preferably Documentum), along with BI/analytics tools such as Tibco Spotfire, QlikView, Tableau, and IBM Cognos
- Ability to work in an agile development environment
- MS Degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics or equivalent experience

PREFERRED SKILLS:

- Hosted cloud storage services such as AWS, Google Cloud Platform, Azure, Heroku, or IBM iCloud
- Experience with statistical programming environments like SAS and R
- Experience in trend analysis and predictive modelling
- Experience in Database performance tuning and optimization
- Experience in Data driven design
- Design knowledge/experience with natural language processors (NLPs)
- Business acumen in life science R&D
