DATA ANALYST

COMPANY INFORMATION

NETbuilder is a leading provider of specialist software, IT and fully managed services to a range of Tier 1 clients in both public and private sectors.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Successful DA candidates will primarily be responsible for:

- Perform analysis to produce Logical Data Models
- Perform physical database design for projects to produce physical data models for Oracle DBMS (including DDL and DML scripts)
- Mentor and coach in-house staff, transferring skills and experience
- XSD Creation

Additional responsibilities will include:

- Gather and review data related information for existing source systems to produce AS-IS source system data models
- Report to Data Analysis Team Leader and Technical Project Management on a routine and exception basis
- Contribute to Data Analysis Best Practice

Candidates will be expected to:

- Lead technical staff on data related activities within projects
- Define transformation rules for ETL and EAI environments
- Apply and promote established departmental data standards and Datamodelling guidelines

- Excellent communication skills with Technical and non-Technical staff
- Ability to develop and understand SQL to required standards
- Excellent planning, control, time management and personal organisation
- Analysis and decision making
- Maintaining good relationships with Technical and Business representatives
- Ability to work as part of a team
- Working with XML

KNOWLEDGE

Candidates will have outstanding knowledge of:

- Logical level Datamodelling (over 3 years working experience)
- Physical database design for Oracle Transactional databases (over 3 years working experience); some Data Warehouse Design knowledge is beneficial
- Data analysis skills, working with business analysts, domain experts and business users

Very strong knowledge of:

- At least one of the main Datamodelling tools (ideally PowerDesigner)
- Entity-Relationship modelling (in depth experience required)
- UML Class Diagrams design (in depth experience required)
- XML Schema design

It is desirable to have knowledge of:

- Data migration and data ETL and EAI project experience including transformation rule definition

EXPERIENCE

Candidates will need to have current data related working experience of:

- Interacting with DBA personnel
- Working with business and technical team members and external staff as part of a large multi-skilled project team
- Working to deadlines within budget
- Mentoring, coaching and skills transfer
- Multiple, co-dependent projects, within a shared architecture

and in the following environments:

- N-tier, component-based E-commerce solutions (J2EE) with Legacy integration
- Solutions using Middleware integration (EAI/ETL) and off-the-shelf packages
- E-commerce solutions and integration to Legacy systems/technologies
- Configuration management (preferably using Merant Dimensions)

The successful candidate will be required to undertake a satisfactory criminal record check prior to commencing work with NETbuilder.
