Data Analyst

POSITION DESCRIPTION:

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Collects data and provides analysis for a broad array of health care issues across disciplines and functional areas.
Carries out detailed tasks assigned by project teams.
May work independently or as a part of a project team.
Contributes to problem solving, process design and analytical support.
Ensures that appropriate quantitative and qualitative data is gathered for analysis.
Participates in managing the organization's complaint and grievance process.
Accountable for investigation of all issues, including collection and documentation of appropriate data.
Communicate with a diverse set of internal and external clientele to achieve excellent results in the areas of complaint and grievance handling, compliance, documentation and enhancement of the member experience.
Strong MS Excel, MS Access, and SQL skills preferred
Must demonstrate effective communication, consulting, interpersonal, and presentation skills.
Typically three (3) or more years of related analytical and/or consulting experience required.
Health care experience preferred.
Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Business Administration, Economics, Operations Research, Public Health Administration, or other related field.
Masters degree preferred.
Demonstrated ability to conduct and interpret quantitative/qualitative analysis.
Proficient w/PC applications including spreadsheet, word processing, and graphics packages.

Daily responsibilities -
Produce reports for various levels of management from Datawarehouse (using a star schema). Current tools are EPM (Peoplesoft app using SQL), Excel 2007, Access 2003, Crystal Reports 9, and Mini Tab. Review existing scheduled report procedures for potential automation or streamlining. Data mining for trends or changes that need to be raised for management attention.

REQUIRED SKILLS -

DESIRED SKILLS -
Advanced Microsoft Access including VBA
Advanced Excel including VBA
COGNOS or Crystal Reports experience
Statistical software experience

SOFT SKILLS -
Strong communication skills and ability to interact with a diverse set of internal clientele. Must be able to interpret the client's needs and apply it to the data collection and presentation. Ability to work in a team environment.
