Interim Customer Data Manager (Digital Personalisation) position (3 month contract roles) for a leading International Retailer (paying £750 - £850/day).

Background:
The digital age has introduced a new era of retailing - mass personalisation. Thanks to the mountains of data this Retailer now has, they can go beyond simply understanding what customers want, they can now anticipate their wishes. They can personalise their offer - and do so on a mass scale, both online and offline, so the retail experience is seamless.

This Retailer has a strong and long heritage in being leading-edge in the collection, protection and usage of Customer data. The digital revolution is rapidly changing both the amount of data customers are generating, and also the ways in which it can be used to improve and personalise the retail offer for customers - described in the industry as 'big data'.

THE ROLE/S:
As part of the Personalisation programme I am recruiting an Interim Customer Data Team to build the Customer Data Blueprint.

This new Group team will:- 1. manage policies on the usage and protection of customer data - internal and external customer data sources
2. be accountable for pulling together into one place all the sources of customer data needed for Insight, Campaign and Service operating models to use (Real Time where needed)
3. create the framework that allows customers to register once, manage and update their own details and preferences in one place, and to see and control which of their data the Retailer has access to and is using, all in the knowledge that this will be used consistently by all parts of the offer.

THE OPPORTUNITY:
This is an opportunity to work for the Customer Data Director, as part of the Group Personalisation Programme in Group Marketing.

Responsibilities will include:

* Ensure a full understanding of all sources of customer data that can be used for Insight, Campaign and Service purposes and share with all potential users and interested parties
* Work with the users of Customer data across the Group to understand their objectives and where relevant to develop new sources of customer data - both internal and externally created/sourced
* Continually assess the viability of new sources of customer data, and their commercial value vs. and potential risk to the Brand
* Consider how to create value added propositions which encourage customers to voluntarily link up their various data sources
* Develop creative, innovative ways of using customer data
* Develop commercial agreements with external data partners such as social networks or media companies, on how to join up data sources to deliver competitive advantage in ways that enhance the customer offer whilst protecting the Brand
* Work with IT to define and develop the infrastructure and tools to create a modern version of a 'Real Time single customer view' that brings all sources of internal and external customer data together, and makes them available to for the Insight, Campaign and Service operating models to use
* Contribute as part of the Customer Data leadership team

HOW YOU WILL DO IT:

* Listen to customers and understand their attitudes towards the use of their own data and the value of their data
* Listen to, advise, and take requirements from Marketing teams and other functional stakeholders across the Group and in all different Business Units for new products, tools and capabilities
* Take requirements from insight teams, customer service centres, campaign teams and data agency on the customer data sources and customer data operating model needed to deliver fantastic insight, service and personalisation algorithms/campaigns. Also, prompt them and help them to see what's possible with new sources of data and technologies.
* Work with Marketing and IT to create projects which define and deliver the above, and manage the delivery of these projects
* Continually review latest global trends and activities in Customer data and be the 'go to' person in the business
* Understand the fast changing external environment in this area through external networking
* Manage a small team of data experts and project managers

YOUR EXPERIENCE:

You will likely have been a Marketing user of customer data (Insight or Campaigns) and ideally will have experience of using social data.
You will be a Commercially minded Marketer, with strong understanding of digital, data, Marketing insight, Campaigns, online, CRM or BI.Randstad Technologies Ltd is acting as an Employment Business in relation to this vacancy.
