Projektbeschreibung

ROLE PURPOSE:

To provide healthcare services to detained persons in the custody suites conducting clinical assessments, identifying and implementing appropriate interventions, collecting forensic samples and providing advice and guidance to Custody staff regarding the care of the detainee whilst in Police Custody. Maintaining detailed and accurate records to ensure the health, safety and wellbeing of detained persons held in police custody.

Be committed to providing a quality service and involved in continuous personal development, updating skills and knowledge and the development of the service.

To work in accordance with the Police and Criminal Evidence Act 1984 and the NMC Codes and Standards of Practice.

This position is a Locum post, with various shifts available on a monthly basis. You can fit the work around your main job, and can work as much or as little as you'd like. The hourly rates are competitive, and you will be paid on a weekly basis!

KEY ACCOUNTABILITY:

- Conduct comprehensive clinical assessments of detained persons, or police officers, as required in order to identify appropriate interventions and make recommendations regarding care regimes.
- Assess detainee's physical/mental conditions, and if required, refer to Forensic Medical Examiner or external health providers if appropriate.
- Following clinical assessment make recommendations such as whether or not an individual is fit to be detained & interview or attend court. Also to assess whether an appropriate adult is required for interview.
- Administer treatment, care and advice to detainees in accordance with Clinical Guidelines.
- Obtain forensic samples, within agreed scope of practice, where indicated.
- Advise Police Custody staff in the treatment and care of detainees as appropriate.
- Advise Police Custody staff on level of observation required for detainee whilst in police custody.
- Develop, maintain and enhance effective working relationships with nursing colleagues, administration staff and Forensic Medical Examiners.
- Develop, maintain and enhance effective working practices with Police staff and external healthcare providers such as ambulance services and mental health teams.
- Ensure that the safety and security of the client, the environment and attending clinicians is maintained at all times.
- Maintain comprehensive and accurate records and comply with storage requirements in order to ensure ability to provide accurate evidence if required for statements and court.
- Contribute to the development of the team to enhance performance of individuals and the team.
- To undertake any other duties of work as may reasonably be required within the Service

PERSON SPECIFICATION:

- Qualified, Registered Nurse
- Primary care/A&E experience or experience working as autonomously
- Broad clinical knowledge and skill base
- Experience of multi-disciplinary team work
- Computer skills
- Willingness to participate in service development
- Highly developed communication & negotiation skills
- Able to manage time effectively
- Willing to participate in policy, guidance and standard setting
- Willing to participate in the induction and mentorship of new staff
- Able and willing to work unsocial hours
- Able to work to flexible rota needs
- Able to work on own initiative
- Able to identify own learning needs
- Flexible, supportive, good team player
- Attention to detail, conscientious

- Must be able to drive at all times (UK drivers licence essential)
