VACANCY OVERVIEW: CREDIT RISK ANALYST

My client a leading energy provider is looking to engage a Credit Risk Analyst on a 3 month contract to join them at the London based office.

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES: CREDIT RISK ANALYST

- Maintain efficient and insightful CREDIT RISK reporting, analysis and data validation, dynamically responding to business and market changes and to the requirements of internal stakeholders, senior management and the Group.
- Categorise breaches in CREDIT RISK policy, investigate and make suggestions for their resolution and further development of policies
- Responsible for making suggestions to the Top Tier CREDIT RISK Manager to improve the credit risk control framework.
- Assess and review, using internal and external scoring techniques, counterparty/customer credit limits in accordance with company CREDIT RISK Policy.
- Assist in risk reviews of new instruments, investments, hedging strategies and products in order to provide assessment of the impact on, and requirements for, credit risk management.
- Support the investigation, negotiation and implementation of credit mitigation, in conjunction with Legal and commercial functions, in order to effectively and efficiently manage risks.
- Provide support for other EM&CR teams as necessary.

NATURE AND SCOPE: CREDIT RISK ANALYST

The purpose of EM&CR is to continually improve the energy market and credit risk control framework and provide clear, accurate and insightful risk reporting and analysis capabilities in order to:

- Remain compliant with policies
- Support and challenge the business in order to embed energy market and credit risk considerations into decision-making across the business.

The CREDIT RISK ANALYST reports to Top Tier Credit Risk Manager, who in turn reports to the Chief Credit Risk Officer.

The CREDIT RISK ANALYST should develop a thorough working knowledge of the energy markets with detailed and extensive knowledge of credit risk monitoring, measuring and mitigation techniques.

The CREDIT RISK ANALYST will need to develop negotiating and communication skills in terms of dealing with other departments and directly with counterparties. Previous broad exposure of credit management is useful.

The CREDIT RISK ANALYST will be expected to contribute to the development of enhanced credit scoring and exposure modelling methods. As a consequence, excellent IT and modelling skills are required, with knowledge of Aligne (Our trade capture system) and advanced Excel being particularly beneficial.

The CREDIT RISK ANALYST will be expected to contribute to the preparation of the information which is presented to the CCMRC, the Executive body with responsibility for credit exposure management across all of the company's commercial activities (as well as for any relevant Business Unit committees). Consequently, the Analyst will require (or need to quickly acquire) detailed knowledge of the company's counterparties.

The role holder should be able to provide efficient and insightful CREDIT RISK REPORTING, analysis and data validation, dynamically responding to business and market changes. The CREDIT RISK ANALYST is responsible for making suggestions to the Top Tier Credit Risk Manager to improve the credit risk control framework.

The role holder will be required to be resilient to an environment characterised by significant operational activity and business change.
