Credit Risk Analyst - 6 months - Competetive rate - Edinburgh

The Successful candidate will Role report Portfolio Risk Management and Development Manager. The role involves working with key stakeholders across Personal and Business Banking (including Unsecured Lending Products, Finance and Marketing), and the primary focus is to drive analysis and business recommendations to manage the portfolio effectively.

Key responsibilities include:

- Responsible for the effective credit risk management of the unsecured product portfolios to comply with strategic objectives and the target credit quality profile.
- Collaborate with and influence key stakeholders, notably, Retail Products, Retail Finance and Business Services to ensure the effective management of the unsecured portfolio via a combination of Product, Pricing and Credit Risk Strategies.
- Able to manage stakeholder relationships, and interact regularly with more senior stakeholders.
- Act as a second line of defence function providing oversight and control.
- Deliver high quality value added insight that drives improved credit decision making, Develop and maintain customer risk management policies.
- Work with Products in ongoing customer portfolio management, giving consideration to customer, business and market drivers. Recommend opportunities for improving both the customer journey and financial performance.
- Undertake analysis and prepare outputs as part of day-to-day work
- Develop and implement strategies across the customer life cycle and product range to improve customer
- experience and financial performance within Risk Appetite limits Develop and manage key performance drivers to retain portfolios within agreed credit risk appetite/limits.
- Evaluate/accept new scorecard and behavioural models, and embed in portfolio and customer strategy.
- Provide in a timely manner, efficient and effective insight into portfolio performance, including stress tests where appropriate, via a combination of evaluation of regular reporting, ad hoc analysis and stakeholder briefings

Role Requirements:

Essential:-

Excellent analytical skills

Extensive skills across SAS, SQL, OR TERADATA, OR VBA.

Well-developed knowledge and practical experience of applying mathematical models and statistical techniques to a variety of business problems.

Financial services experience and/or credit risk background.

Knowledge of the credit risk landscape and practices.

Experience in commercial/financial/risk analytics,

Strong written and verbal communication skills with ability to present recommendation in a succinct manner.

Statistical and Business Modelling, Performance Measurement and Research Techniques.

Experience in dealing with multiple data sources from internal or external databases.

Knowledge of database interrogation and analysis tools (SAS/SQL/TERADATA, EXCEL)

Computer Programming and general Information Technology.

Other Significant Role Requirements:

Experience/knowledge of Personal & Business Banking, with experience of Customer Facing and/or Head Office parts of the business also advantageous

Good Customer and market insight

Good understanding of the financial services sector with specific focus on Personal & Business Banking.

Ability to package and present ideas with clarity

Good understanding of regulatory regimes and authorities within which the sector operates.

Good understanding of retail credit, strong project management skills, broad knowledge of technology issues from a business perspective.

Customer:

Customer focus: Promote customer focus throughout strategy, communications and stakeholder engagement. Ensure customer focus is central to team culture.

Customer delivery: Ensure Credit Risk teams are accountable for delivery of commitments to client's customers.

Reputation: Build, safeguard and uphold the reputation of client brand across all stakeholders: investors, press, politicians, public, staff, clients, etc.

Regulatory Relations: Act as senior interface for the Bank as required with regulators, industry associations, policy makers, etc. Ensure relationships are open, transparent and in good faith.
