Countryside Management Heritage Skills Apprentice

Eingestellt von Surrey County Council

Projektbeschreibung

Each of the three posts will be based in turn for 4 months at each of the the Countryside Management Projects in Guildford, Chessington & Caterham.

Please also note that this is a one year full time, fixed term contract. We are looking for three highly motivated individuals to take up this unique opportunity to learn and work within Surrey County Council's Countryside section.

With a passion for all things related to our countryside heritage, this placement will teach you how to manage our heathland, downland and woodland and give you the right skills and experience to develop a career in this challenging but rewarding role.

The Skills for the Future project, funded by the Heritage Lottery Fund, aims to equip three trainees each year with the heritage management skills to join the countryside management workforce. On-the-job experience is provided with our three Countryside projects and a variety of short training courses are offered, including certified training in skills such as brushcutter and chainsaw use.

You will be a self motivated and self reliant individual, demonstrating a real desire to work in the conservation sector. Showing a genuine enthusiasm to learn and take on new challenges, you will enjoy working outdoors as part of a team and have an adaptable approach to work.

You will need a valid driving licence that enables you to drive in the UK, as part of your role will require the driving of ad hoc vehicles on Council business.

More information about the three Countryside Management Projects (Heathland, Downlands and Lower Mole) can be found on the Surrey County Council's website.

Interviews are planned for the week commencing Monday 18th Feb 2013.
