My client, a leading automotive manufacturer, based in Warwickshire, are looking to recruit a Cost Reduction Project Engineer to join their Powertrain division on a long-term contract basis.

Position Description:

Cost Reduction Project Engineer

Powertrain Cost reduction projects and Total Value Management (TVM)
Management of the P/T design TVM roadmap
Compiling weekly and monthly status reports
Project management and delivery of design TVM projects
Setting up and running project status review meetings with CoC areas
Liaison with suppliers on design TVM initiatives
Setting up and facilitating ideas generation events
Tracking of design TVM status for purchased engines
Completion of internal appropriation requests and D&D approval
Calculation of appropriate business cases
Cost benchmarking activities
Line walks and value stream mapping internally and at supplier plants

Skills Required:

Self motivated, driven and diligent
Takes personal responsibility to progress projects through to delivery in a challenging environment
Must be able to engage individuals at all levels of the business and chair progress meetings
Must be able to form effective relationships with key individuals and departments
Must have good verbal & written communication skills and be able to compile and present high quality reports for management consumption.
Good basic financial acumen, Investment costs, R&D costs, Material cost, rate of return Capable in Microsoft tools particularly excel, Powerpoint. Microsoft project an advantage.

Experience Required:

Managing the delivery of complex engineering lead projects in a challenging environment, automotive, aerospace or similar
Experience in a value management & cost reduction environment (TVM) a benefit.
Experience of supplier management and/or assembly manufacturing experience a benefit.

Education Required:

Degree preferred or OND/HNC
