Cost Manager

Day rate: £200 a day
Duration: 3 months in the first instance.

A fantastic contract opportunity for a Cost Manager exists within one of the largest telecommunication companies in the world. They require a Cost Manager to support the Finance Manager with the creation, control, maintenance and reporting of CAPEX and OPEX budgets on behalf of the organisation in line with the annual operating and resource plan.

The main requirements for the Cost Manager role is that the successful candidate will be someone that is not an accountant but you will have very strong Excel skills and will have worked in a reporting role previously.

Overview of the role:
It is the responsibility of the Cost Manager to support the Finance Manager in managing, driving and supporting the team to ensure targets and objectives against expenditure across the group are achieved. The Cost Manager is responsible for the promotion of a sound financial understanding across staff. It is the Cost Manager's responsibility to support all budgetary and quality requirements in achieving the delivery of these programmes. You will be responsible for the supply and maintenance of all financial reporting systems and for the supply of ad hoc reports to ensure compliance and progress on the programmes.

Responsibilities
Support the quarterly budget re-submissions based upon business position.
To manage, support and drive costs within cost centres in order that they achieve their Objectives with minimum cost.
To support teams in achieving CAPEX and OPEX savings wherever possible.
To ensure ad hoc reporting on the progress of the Sub budgets, and management of any variation with the cost centre budget holder.
Support the monthly collation, preparation and presentation of all CAPEX and OPEX results for programme reviews.
To regularly update the accountants on the progress of the activities relating to the CAPEX and OPEX budgets.
To ensure commercial housekeeping is in order for escalation & resolution of invoices on hold/supplier debt and open/overdue commitment.
To liaise with other budget managers to ensure accuracy is maintained.
Management of specific projects across the group as and when required.
To ensure the team works to the requirements of SOX.
