Annual Salary - £12,226 - £19,317

Full Time - 37 Hours Per Week

12 Month Fixed Term Contract

Based in the Purchace to Pay department at County Hall

Essex County Council is going through a period of unprecedented change and as part of the on-going transformation, Corporate Operations has an exciting opportunity to join its high performing Purchase to Pay Team, who are responsible for assisting the Council purchase goods/services from approved suppliers ensuring delivery of services for its customers. Payments for Adults, Children's social services exceeding £400m per annum and a further £210m for Schools, Pensions, libraries are made to suppliers accurately and promptly in line with our terms and conditions.

We also provide customers receiving care services benefits advice and guidance on financial assessments generating income of £65m for the authority. Our help Desk operates Mon - Fri 08.30 to 16.30 and assists all employees in following our financial regulations and good purchasing practice.

As part of the Purchase to Pay team, you will work closely with colleagues and the management team to ensure the delivery of a high performing, customer facing P2P service which proactively embraces change. You will achieve exceptional customer satisfaction levels and make a real demonstrable difference to the delivery of the P2P service, whilst maximising payment/assessment efficiency in accordance with all Authorities policy best practice guidelines.

Duties will include, but are not limited to:

- Processing accurate and timely payments/assessments through the IT systems in line with the relevant Authorities policies
- Ensuring adherence to strict deadlines, Service Level Agreements and Scheme of Delegation.
- Ensuring accurate and timely completion of all administration tasks.
- Assisting with budgetary control and compliance
- Ensuring compliance with Data Protection and relevant internal policies and procedures.
- Manage incoming Customer queries and provide excellent customer services in the resolution of such queries and disputes.
- Provide information and advice both verbal and written to internal departments in connection with payments and assessments.
- Provide support and advice to both internal and external customers in respect of best practice.

The ideal candidate will have proven experience of working either within a similar role or a fast pace customer services environment, interacting with a diverse range of customers over the phone or in person. You will have proven track record of providing a high customer service, problem solving, influencing and effective communications.

You will have the ability to identify and implementing changes, continually seeking to improve service delivery.

You will possess first class PC literacy, particularly Word and Excel, be educated to a minimum of 5 GCSE's (grade C or above) or equivalent, which must include English & Mathematics or equivalent relevant work experience. Enthusiasm, excellent interpersonal, written and oral communication skills are pre-requisites for the role, as is the drive to make a difference to the service provided to our customers.
