Controls Engineer

Automotive components manufacturer and assembler needs a Controls Engineer in Northeast Alabama (east of Birmingham). Will consider direct hire or temp-to-hire. Relocation assistance is available. Experience in an automotive assembly environment is a plus. You will work on improving automation control systems involved in the production and assembly of automotive seating. This is a 2nd shift position ( 6PM - 4:30AM) working four 10-hour days. Competitive rate and benefits.

RESPONSIBILITIES

- You will develop and improve automation control systems for the assembly of automotive seating and overhead systems, and identify and implement error proofing requirements throughout the production process.
- You will assist in PFMEA analysis, and direct Kaizen, lean manufacturing and other continuous improvement projects, participating in 8D root-cause based problem solving tasks.
- Troubleshoot PLC ladder logic and data handling functions in Control Logix processors, maintain PLC documentation and archive of programs. Support various I/O devices connected to PLC's including HMI's, scanners, remote I/O, sensors, relays, solenoids, etc.
- Assist in troubleshooting pneumatic circuits, and determining equipment malfunctions. Archive machine controls drawings.

REQUIREMENTS

- You must have a Bachelors Degree in Electrical Engineering or related field, and/or equivalent 5 years related experience using Allen Bradley's RS Logix 5, RS Logix 5000, ControLogix and Panelview development software.
- Must have PLC code development and debug experience, and hardware knowledge in PLCs, PCs, HMIs (i.e., Panel View, RS View), controls devices (i.e., sensors, actuators, motion control equipment), and Robotics.
- You must have experience with Automation Network Interfaces for data and control (Ethernet, DeviceNet, ControlNet, ProFiBus, etc.)
- Must have strong math and computer skills including: MS Word, Excel, Power Point, Auto Cad LT 2002 or higher, and knowledge of plant automation network applications.
