Control Systems Engineer Job

CONTROL SYSTEMS ENGINEER needed for a CONTRACT opportunity with Yoh's client located in ERIE, PA.

THE BIG PICTURE - TOP SKILLS YOU SHOULD POSSESS:

- Train Controls Engineering
- Human Machine Interface (HMI)
- Serial Communications and/or Ethernet experience

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING:

- Define requirements and interfaces for locomotive third party boxes including airbrakes, ETCS, and Human Machine Interface. Design, integrate, implement and validate control and diagnostic algorithms for airbrake and train control systems
- Lead/Support the evaluation and conceptualization of new airbrake and train control systems and applications.
- Execute the design, analysis, or evaluation of assigned projects using sound engineering principles and adhering to business standards, practices, procedures, and product/program requirements
- Document technical data generated by the assigned project consistent with engineering policies and procedure
- Provide timely communications on significant issues or developments

WHAT YOU NEED TO BRING TO THE TABLE:

- Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Physics
- At least 3 years of experience in an engineering position (preferably systems)
- Experience with airbrakes, pneumatic systems or train control systems
- Experience with serial communication protocols (ie RS422, RS232) and/or Ethernet
- Ability and willingness to work "hands-on" in test labs and on locomotives with high HP (1000 KVA), medium voltage (2 KV) and high current (10 KA) systems

BONUS POINTS! OTHERWISE KNOWN AS PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

- Masters in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Physics
- Experience with system level validation testing
- Experience with transportation/locomotive systems, control, diagnostics, design or test
- Experience with Design For Six Sigma (DFSS) tools (ie FMEA, Score Cards)
- Strong technical aptitude, including applicable engineering tools and systems
- Solid oral and written communication skills
- Strong interpersonal and leadership skills
- PC proficiency
