A leading developer of marine renewable energy generation has requested my assistance in sourcing a Control and Instrumentation engineer. The C&I engineer position is based in Edinburgh with travel to the Orkney Islands. With backing from a major utility company and plans to develop the next generation of their wave energy converter the role offers an opportunity to join a rapidly growing developer and industry.
The Control and Instrumentation Engineer will provide engineering expertise for SCADA, PLC control and instrumentation systems on the device. Working within a multi-discipline engineering team, The C&I Engineer will support the project engineering team with C&I issues including assistance with design, procurement, installation, configuration and operation of SCADA and PLC systems. You will also be required to work alongside and manage contractors both on and off-site.
The preferred applicant will possess the following:
* Proven experience of working with control and instrumentation systems
* Extensive experience of DCS/SCADA and PLC configuration and programming
* An understanding of installation design for the marine environment
* Significant experience of project engineering
The client would ideally prefer a candidate that also possesses:
* A qualification in control instrumentation
* Experience with ABB's 800xA Extended Automation System
* Experience with HV electrical systems and formal Quality Assurance schemes
