TITLE: Contract Senior Network Support Specialist
DEPARTMENTS: IT Services
STATUS: Contractor (6 months)
WORK SCHEDULE: Core Business Hours (this position requires working outside core hours and weekends)
LOCATION: Financial District, Downtown Core

OVERALL ACCOUNTABILITIES:
An excellent opportunity for a contractor to join a dynamic team. The Senior Network Specialist will be required to build, implement a network and domain infrastructure to support a new client. The successful candidate you will work with the Senior Network Specialists to ensure maximum availability, reliability and security of the International Financial local and wide area networks. Primary technical focus will be on implementation and support of Cisco Routers and Switches, network Firewalls and wide area network circuits.

- Experience configuring and supporting Cisco (2800, 2900, 3800,3900,ASR 1000 & 7200 series) Routers.
- Experience in managing Cisco (Catalyst 3750 & 6500 series) Routers/Switches.
- Experience in configuring and maintaining Cisco CSS & ACS.
- Experience with routing protocols including EIGRP, BGP and HSRP in a highly available environment.
- Experience configuring Virtual Private Networks.
- Superior troubleshooting competencies
- Experience with using network management tools (ie Nimbus, CiscoWorks, Netflow Analyzers).
- Experience implementing and supporting Checkpoint and PIX/ASA Firewalls.
- Experience enforcing network security policy via access lists and Firewall rules.
- Experience with NAT (Network Address Translation) and QoS.
- Familiar with both Set base and IOS base Cisco Switches
- Takes a logical approach to analysing problems. Systematically researches information. Explores alternatives and implements action plans to resolve problems.
- Demonstrated performance and capacity planning experience.
- Prioritization - ability to organize workflow in order to accomplish multiple and changing priorities within specified timeframes.
- Ability to multi-task - adjust to multiple demands, shifting priorities, and ongoing change.
- Proactive in acquiring information to develop new skills to improve job performance. Grasps new material quickly and easily, and applies new information, concepts and procedures in a constructive manner.
- Self-starter, able to work independently with minimal supervision.

IMPORTANT
- WAN technologies including ISDN, T1, DS3, TLS, Dark Fibre and Internet VPN.
- Support of VoIP services (ie Cisco and Avaya)
- Participate in network audits
- Technical documentation skills.
- Identifies opportunities to improve processes and procedures that add value.
- Identifies and eliminates processes and procedures that decrease value.
- Implement projects and tasks to add value and reduce inefficiencies.
- Ability to work in a team environment.

BENEFICIAL
- Prior networking experience in the financial industry (Mutual Fund environment).
- Experience with RSA Secure ID/Radius and Cisco load balancers (CSS 11500 Series).
- Cisco certification (ie CCNP).
- Unix proficiency.
