Contract Ruby on Rails Developer

Leading health and fitness technology organization well-recognized for reinventing devices and apps is seeking a long-term contract consultant.

You will be responsible for developing and maintaining highly visible, critical applications.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Work with Web Developers, Database Developers, Business Analysts and other departments to architect and implement new functionality.
Propose new project features and website functionality.
Lead projects to develop multi-tier web-based applications and communicate technical parameters and constraints to relevant teams.
Architect and build websites that are cross-browser and cross-platform compliant.
Assist with planning and development of new user interfaces for web based tools.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, related field of study or relevant work experience.
Demonstrated history of staying current with new technologies and skills.

REQUIREMENTS/SKILLS:

Excellent problem solving skills with the ability to analyze and resolve complex issues
Experience developing on a full project life cycle, from requirements to delivery
Server Side Scripting experience with Ruby on Rails
Experience with test driven development and deployment tools
Experience with AJAX and related technologies including CSS and JavaScript
Must be very experienced with at least one JavaScript framework
Understanding of Object Oriented programming techniques
Experience working within a multi-tiered web application framework
Experience with developing and integrating REST web API's
Experience creating web pages using standards compliant XHTML and HTML5
Knowledge of relational databases and strong SQL data access skills
Experience with version control systems
