Contract Role: Unix Sys Admin - Migration of Solaris to Linux

The successful contractor will be joining as team who are supporting a migration project for Solaris/Linux platforms. Along with other projects including a storage migration and other vendor related storage foundation projects. The project will involve liaising with end users, planning and coordinating different tasks, carrying out the upgrades/migrations and include post-implementation reviews

Essential:

- Unix production support experience (Solaris and Linux).
- Detailed working knowledge of Solaris and Linux Operating systems - Sun Solaris 8 and 10 and Linux Red Hat, mainly AS 5.x and 6.x.
- Good Shell (sh, ksh, bash) and Perl Scripting skills.
- Good understanding of Veritas Foundation Suite (VCS, VxVM) and SVM.
- SAN - EMC/HDS/HP and Netapps - NFS

Beneficial:

- H/W knowledge of Sun Servers, IBM X Series, HP ProLiant and IBM/HP Blades beneficial.
- GRID/VmWare - Virtualization.

Due to the nature of the systems involved this will include some late shifts mid-week and weekend work for which a lieu day will be given mid-week.
