Consultant Within Palliative Care

We are currently recruiting for a consultant within an outstanding Specialist Palliative Care Service, based in Scotland.
The successful applicant will work as part of a small medical team, and will be supported by all other specialties within the NHS and a highly skilled Macmillan Nursing Team. We are happy to consider this post as either a part time or full time position.

The main aspects of the role will include: Lead Clinician for the Specialist Palliative Care Team and Palliative Care MCN Lead. Responsibility for delivering and developing Palliative Care Services within Dumfries and Galloway; A consultation and advisory service, both to other specialties for adult patients in the hospital and for patients in all settings across the region; Participating, together with other specialist teams and primary care teams, in the management of patients requiring Palliative Care; and Providing, with Specialist Palliative Care staff, a comprehensive outpatient service.

The consultant job plan is flexible and open to negotiation on appointment. The job plan will be offered on a 10PA contract (the balance between direct clinical care and supporting professional activities will be discussed and agreed between the Board and the successful applicant).

Opportunities exist for the post holder to develop links with the University of Glasgow. Suitably qualified applicants will be considered for the post of Honorary Senior Lecturer at the University of Glasgow, with links in teaching, CPD, research, audit and issues of professional practice.
