Based in Essex, this job is an opportunity for an experienced Consultant in Radiology to join a large NHS Foundation Trust.

The Trust employs over 4,200 staff with most services provided from two main acute hospitals

Applications are invited for the new post of Consultant Radiologist to work with a team of fourteen Radiologists (eleven full time and three part-time).

The department offers open access to general practitioners for routine general, barium and ultrasound studies and handles a large workload, particularly in, ultrasound, nuclear medicine, CT, MR and Interventional Radiology.

The new appointee must have a wide range of experience including general radiology, and cross-sectional imaging. A significant requirement of the post is to share in the existing workload and support colleagues within the department. A commitment to general reporting and traditional radiological examinations will be expected.

The post-holder will be expected to participate in Out-of-hours on call, departmental audit and clinical governance processes and will also be expected to provide training and education to medical and other departmental staff as required.

The latest edition of The Royal College of Radiologists (RCR's) imaging referral guidelines, iRefer is in use to assist the justification of all examinations. A Radiologist sees all requests for special examinations and problems are discussed with clinicians and GPs. The post holder will be expected to participate in, and support, this process.

The post is for a General Radiologist with interest in Cross-sectional Imaging with subspecialty experience to complement the current Radiologists, especially Musculoskeletal Radiology, Head & Neck / Neuroradiology.

To be considered for the post you must possess the FRCR or equivalent higher professional qualification and must either be on the GMC Specialist Register, or be within six months of the CCT at the interview date. Full registration with the GMC is essential.
