Construction Scheduler

Our hugely popular client is constantly challenged to drive continuous improvement and deliver the highest quality, most technically efficient data centers in the world. For this contract position, you will be a part of highly creative, efficient team tasked with tackling the most fascinating and challenging problems in designing, building, and operating the client's data facilities. This is a diverse, upbeat, creative, team-oriented group of engineers and managers working on a daily basis to develop game-changing data centers.

These data centers are industry-leading examples of energy efficient, cost effective designs. The Construction Scheduler will be ultimately responsible for understanding work that will be occurring and the potential impact to existing critical rack space. All work requests will be controlled by the Construction Scheduler who will be responsible for owning the change management process and the schedule.

The Construction Scheduler role is a contract position for approximately 6-9 months with the possibility of full time employment. The construction scheduler is responsible for helping drive some of the most technical, cost efficient and fast paced engineering and construction projects.

OVERVIEW: The candidate will work with and understand all aspects of the entire data center life cycle starting with the design, construction, and commissioning.

RESPONSIBILITIES TO INCLUDE:

- Working with general contractors and sub-contractors to understand what work needs to be performed.
- Requesting and reviewing MOPs (Method of Procedure) for proper detail, necessity, and risk.
- Entering requests into the change management system and keeping track of the approval status.
- Maintaining a master schedule of work at multiple sites.
- Communicating upcoming work to stakeholders and site owners.
- Overseeing critical work and ensuring the proper steps are taken when starting and finishing all work.
- Ensuring work takes place to meet construction schedules.
- Verifying quality and completeness of work.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

- 3-5 years of experience working for a professional organization
- 3 years of experience in industrial or commercial construction
- 2 year degree in a technical field such as engineering, construction management, or a trade school
- Experience reading and interpreting construction drawings
- Experience reading and understanding construction and equipment specifications
- Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office tools, including Project, Excel, Word, OneNote
- Ability to track punchlist items and work with contractors to deliver high quality turnovers
- Understanding of NEC code requirements and safe electrical work practices
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Business acumen and a high understanding of business principals
- Strong technical understanding and ability to interpret technical information
- Detail oriented and organized with the ability to set priorities and meet deadlines
- Ability to work independently and operate with minimal oversight
- Experience managing multiple projects concurrently
- Ability to make sound decisions during critical times
- ABILITY TO WORK A FLEXIBLE SCHEDULE THAT COULD INCLUDE OCCASIONAL 2ND AND 3RD SHIFTS

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

- 4 year degree in a technical field such as engineering, construction management, or a trade school
- Experience with AutoCAD
- Experience in a mission critical data center
- Understanding of mechanical systems including air handlers, centrifugal pumps, building management systems, cooling towers, and chillers
- Understanding of electrical systems including diesel generators, UPS systems, switchboards, transformers, and PDUs
- Understanding of project management best practices
