Construction Engineer

Client involved in High Voltage T&D & Substation EPC projects is looking for an Assistant Project Manager for a T&D project near Cedar Rapids, IA. You need 2-8 years of engineering and/or construction experience related to transmission line (T-Line), Substation, or power plant EPC projects. You need a BS degree in Civil/Structural Engineering, Construction Management or Electrical Engineering.

RESPONSIBILITIES

- Assist the Project Manager (PM) in the procurement and project management of high voltage Substation and Transmission Line engineering & construction projects
- Assist the PM in the estimating, procurement, and management of equipment and negotiation of labor contracts for T-Line EPC projects
- Assist the PM with the oversight of EPC projects
- Develop and maintain effective vendor and client relationships
- Communicate field changes and design issues to the design group
- Handle Change Orders and Extras
- Coordinate contractor updates and alliance meetings
- Interfacing with Engineering, Project Management, Right of Way, Field Superintendents, City/County Officials, Land Owners, Procurement
- Answer land owner questions

REQUIREMENTS

- BS degree in Civil or Structural Engineering or possibly Construction Management
- 2-8 years of civil or structural engineering and/or construction experience related to T-Line, Substation, or power plant EPC projects
- Specific experience related to Civil or Structural Engineering or Construction areas on T-Line projects would be ideal
- Ability to bid and manage equipment and labor contracts
- Experience working for a consulting engineering firm would be a plus
