Consolidation Accountant (Government)

The main objective of the Consolidation Accountant role is to lead on the consolidation of Accounts for a Government agency. The External Auditor has emphasised the need for audit evidence to be complete, accurate and well presented at the very start of the audit. The post holder would lead on consolidation of the 18 entities and organise the evidence required, contact Agencies, Finance Business Partners and other areas of the business as necessary to ensure information is provided on time and to the required standard. They will need to use the information received and interpret it so that it fully supports the draft account. This information will need to be presented in both electronic and hard copy files using a methodology that meets NAO requirements. Ideal start date would be early January 14

SKILLS REQUIRED
This role requires an individual with a specific skill set and previous experience of preparing financial accounts and consolidation, preferably in a central Government context. Strong spreadsheet and systems skills are essential. The accounts are prepared using SAP BPC but experience of a specific accounting system is not essential.

Essential Skills/Knowledge:

Previous experience of preparing financial accounts and consolidation.

Good interpersonal/leadership skills required as there could be director level contact

Advanced Excel: Excel skills at advance level (good at data manipulation, look up formulae, Macros, pivot tables etc).

Desirable Skills/Knowledge:

SAP accounting system experience (interrogation and prepare journals on SAP) Government accounting/public sector knowledge.

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED
Must be willing to go through CTC level security clearance as a minimum.
