Background
To convert the Annual Accounts of 46 Arms Length Bodies (ALBs) to a single control framework, and consolidate these bodies into a set of group accounts to meet the requirements of the existing "Alignment Project" operated within Treasury accounting rules. This role is part of the team that is responsible for the preparation of the Group consolidation Annual Report and Accounts - including the preparation of supporting working papers for the consolidation and intercompany elimination with proofs and supporting calculations for the consolidation adjustments. The role will assist with the validation of the reporting packs submitted by the Arms Length Bodies (ALBs) entities including primary statements analysis and reconciliations of notes to the accounts. The role will liaise with the Arms Length Bodies contacts.

Main Duties/Responsibilities
* Assist the ALB's with the conversion process where they do not follow the Government Financial Reporting Manual.. Assist with the validation of the ALB reporting packs to ensure they are completed in a consistent manner in accordance with reporting guidance and prepare high quality audit files and papers for review by Senior Managers and NAO.. Collaborate with other team members, and support flexibly all consolidation activities.. Undertake analysis and reconciliation for key areas of the accounts and collation of the information required for the disclosure notes and annual report. Preparation of journals for uploads. Provide high quality technical input and support in relation to the consolidation of ALBs into annual report and accounts.. Assist with the preparation of the returns for Whole of Government Accounts (WGA). Other ad-hoc tasks as required.

Skills/Experience Required
* Advanced Excel spreadsheet skills. Experience of working in an Assistant Financial Accounting/Reporting role. Working knowledge of a number of Accounting Standards particularly SORP, IFRS, FReM. Team player with strong communication skills who is used to operating to consistently high standards. Well organised, with good attention to detail. Have high levels of intrinsic motivation that manifests itself in a 'can do' attitude and reliable and flexible approach. Desirable. Experience of producing consolidated accounts. Knowledge of HM Treasury's guidance on Financial Reporting (FReM), Managing Public Money, Supply Estimates, Consolidated Budgeting Guidance. Experience of using Prophix software

Formal Qualifications Required
* CCAB Qualified accountant (minimum 4 years' experience)
